Obama Campaign wants you to report any robo-calls or hate mail you receive.
Edited on Sat Oct-18-08 06:36 PM by greenmutha
I just got this letter from the Obama Campaign in my email:

"Voters in key battleground states are receiving automated phone calls from John McCain's campaign that are spreading some of the most vile smears of this election.

But these "robocalls" -- and the hate-filled mailers that usually accompany them -- say more about John McCain than they do about Barack.

After all, McCain himself denounced these underhanded and cowardly tactics as "hate calls" after a rash of them sunk his primary campaign in 2000. The perpetrator behind that slimy attack: George W. Bush. Now, not only has John McCain embraced these sleazy tactics, he's hired the same firm that Bush used against him to orchestrate them.

Your voice is the most powerful tool to help fight back against this tide of lies and spread the truth.

If you or your family and friends have received one of these sleazy calls or mailings, help us keep track of them by reporting it.

It's clear John McCain would rather lose his honor than lose this election.

While there's nothing new about these scare tactics, McCain has signaled he'll stoop to any level to win.

There's too much at stake to let the politics of the past derail this campaign. And with just 17 days to go before Election Day, the need to take a stand couldn't be greater.

Reports from folks like you are the only way the full extent of these hateful calls and mailers will ever be known by voters across the country.

Expose John McCain's slimy tactics -- forward this email to everyone you know and make sure McCain's "hate call" tactics get reported:

http://www.fightthesmears.com/report

Together, we'll turn the page on McCain's low road tactics.

Keep fighting the good fight,

Obama Action Wire"

calls being reported on cable news.

He also said the repuke Governor of Hawai'i got on tv to diss Obama saying..

"Lingle dismisses Obama's local ties"

<snip> <snip>

"Hawaii's GOP governor, who was in Colorado yesterday campaigning for Sen. John McCain, the Republican candidate for president, was asked about Obama's recent comments in Colorado: "I'm somebody from the West. Hawaii is about as far west as you can get."

Lingle, according to the newspaper Fort Collins Now, called Obama's comment "a stretch."

"Hawaii is a different part of America," Lingle said.

Obama never voted in Hawaii, never owned a business, but spent some time in school in the state, Lingle told the newspaper.

Hawaii Democrats called Lingle's comments "alarming, harsh and personal."

"So Gov. Lingle thinks Barack Obama is being disingenuous in claiming Hawaii as one of his home states. Sorry, governor, the claim happens to be true," said U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono."

How stupid is that? Dissing a Native Son in to Hawai'i that is 41 points up the last I saw.

And, he will be the President in spite of linda lingle.. My son says he hopes it bites her.

39. C'mon. This shit has been going on for 2-3 full days now. It's all over local news, some national
news, and in the Obama Biden stump speeches (especially Biden's). If they don't have hundreds if not thousands of reports and samples, I don't know what the hell more they need. And, the content of shit is all over the blogosphere. I understand they may need to get data to target their response, but shit, get her into overdrive and hit back NOW. Don't wait around for Christ sake. Remember the Clinton '92 "war room". Where's Obama's??

43. What are You doing to fight back?
Are you setting up a protest or petition for MSM? Are you sending petitions with millions of signatures to MSM advertisers concerning their biased reporting and telling them you will boycott their products?
1. McPalin has numerous associations worse than Ayers but do they report about them?
2. Joe the Plumber is a fraud and set up why are the MSM still talking about him?
3. The lie about the number of people at the rallies and the Fire Marshall reports confirm it but yet the MSM still report the false numbers why?
4. They have never reported the truth about ACORN what are you doing about that?
5. The MSM and press has ran more negative stories on Obama than McCain. Obama may receive more coverage but it is also more negative. What have you done about that?
It only takes one to unite many.
Why does Obama and his campaign have to shoulder all the responsibility? We, his supporters should be helping with the fight. He can't stop the republicans from spreading lies and he can't stop the media from covering them.

44. Here's laundry list of all I have done and AM doing to fight back:
1) I am a member of my local Dem committee and have done work on behalf of Obama with what time I can spare since the primaries including helping to run the caucus and attend the state convention as an Obama delegate.
2) I have donated $ repeatedly to Obama and as recently as this morning.
3) I have made calls from home via the Obama site on behalf of Obama.
4) As soon as I got the robo call I called my current and past local Dem committee chairmen and the local Dem coordinate campaign office to report this.
5) I also called several local media outlets and played them the robo call message.
6) I also called the Executive Director of the Maine Republican Party and left one hell of a TOUGH message on her answering machine condemning these rotten lying right wing tactics and the ReTHUG party in general.
7) I also called several Dem friends with robo message, and one emailed the local R party with another scathing attack on them and their tactics.
8) I tried calling the RNC to complain but got such a BS runaround of menus that I said to heck with it and just attacked the state RePUKES.
8) I am canvassing for Obama/Dems AGAIN tomorrow.
9) I convinced our local Dem Chairman to buy our own Obama signs for my town given the campaign office shortage. I have also ordered my own signs.
10) I reported the robo call and a mailer I got today to the anti-Smear page on the Obama site as stated above.

**I work tons of hours and have a family, so I think I've done what I can.

47. You are doing your part
My point wasn't about working for the campaign or your local party. I have donated and done all of the above also. Obama has only been here twice before the primary and right before. He did not campaign in my state yet I have worked with a local organization since April to register voters. I have been to his campaign headquarters to make calls and canvassed also.
I want to know about pushing back on MSM who are doing nothing but helping McCain. Do you know he hired the same person who smeared him in 2000 in SC to run his smear campaign?
Obama wants the information so he can send out his own mailers and do his own robo calls to repudiate theirs. He is to busy campaigning in every state and focusing on the goal to get distracted every time they lie. He he fought the republicans on all their BS when would he have time to campaign?

Never underestimate your opponent. Be prepared.

36. well, yeah, they'll take it
but sending this to everyone they can think of is more to set the expectation, preempt the effect, than to collect evidence. They'll have plenty of samples. Putting those requests in there is like asking people to join the Civil Air Patrol in WWII. They feel important, like they are doing their civic duty. When they get a call, they react like one of those CAP ladies would have if she spotted a Zero.

I can just here it now: "Maude, I got one. That McCain feller is doing it to us! We gotta report this quick!"
