McCain and Palin MIA on "Meet"
http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/1008/McCain_and_Palin_MIA_on_Meet.html

snip

There is a lot of buzz about Colin Powell's appearance on Meet the Press tomorrow.

But it's who has not been on the show that is beginning to draw notice.

John McCain has not appeared on the long-running program since January, when he sat for an interview with the late Tim Russert in Tampa just before the Florida primary.

And McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin, hasn't done the show yet.

Should Palin not appear, she will be only the second Republican vice presidential nominee since 1952 to not sit for a "Meet" interview in the first cycle after being put on the ticket. The other? Dan Quayle in 1988.

Palin has done taped network interviews with ABC and CBS.

McCain, who is second in all-time appearances to Bob Dole on "Meet," has done both of the other two networks' Sunday shows.

So why the cold shoulder to "Meet?" It primarily stems from resentment toward NBC's cable cousin, MSNBC, and especially hosts Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann. In a reflection of the deep disdain his campaign holds for the liberal-leaning commentators, McCain singled both out for mockery at the Al Smith dinner in New York earlier this week, an event attended by many of that city's media elite.

7. If Palin does an interview on MTP, I bet McCain will be there, too, like with
the upcoming interview with Brian Williams. It's like "Take Your Daughter to Work Day."

8. Obama was smart and genuinely sweet to note the absence of
Tim Russert at the Al Smith dinner the other night. It was generous and appreciated by many that were there. That was a fav organization of Russert and the Cardinal was pleased at the mention. That President of mine is one smart cookie...
