Please, Please, Please DU members
Please be vigilant the night of the election. If you go out to watch the results please do not go by yourself. I do not care if you live in the most liberal city in your state, take someone with you. These people are going to go bat shit if Obama wins the election.

2. I was thinking the same thing
Of course, partly because my Obama sign is probably an invite to the angry radicals here in a red state. We're staying in all night. They better not try to mess with me or my husband on our property. I'm also getting the house set up with cameras on the exterior and we're going to be on I-sight all night with friends, so there will be witnesses.

this message is brought to you by a Prep school elitist. I drink lattes, I read, and I own a gun. Don't come to my house with your anti-American BS. My grandfather fought for this country and for our constitution.

4. I'm afraid for some of us
I think we really need to take our safety seriously on election night and beyond if Obama wins. I caught two guys driving by my house last night taking a look at my Obama sign. They were driving by pretty slow and I was home alone with my children. What they fail to realize is that I have two big dogs that would tear a hole in them if they decided to get brave and come on my property. My shepherd has become very protective since our baby was born.

I think some of the repigs have the notion that we since we are liberals that we are wimps and will not protect ourselves. I hope they do not decide to test that theory on folks come election night.

8. I agree- please be safe and is there a way you can have friends over??
or be on I-sight or put in a cheap web cam?

I know I sound paranoid, but better safe than sorry. I am very scared for a family member who is in an bi-racial relationship -- they've already gotten some trouble from the police, just general harassment.

We will not cower, but we will be smart, pro-active and strong. Stay safe!

3. Obama says he doesn't do cowering and neither should we.
Most Republicans I know do not expect McCain to win and they are more than happy to let Obama be handed the mess he will have. There is no point in doing anything stupid than it would be any other time, but I will not be cowered.

7. Yes, it's about time people everywhere start standing up to these bullies!
But be as safe about it as possible, of course.

10. I'm worried because I heard
Troy Davis's execution was set for Nov 4. I hope to hell I was mis-informed.

12. I'm not asking any of you to be fearful
I'm just asking that people be watchful and smart. Personally, I am concern for the safety of some. I grew up in rural MO where the racism and hate was rampant. I'm looking at this election from that viewpoint. The McCain camp have put that line in the sand and there are some wingnuts that would be more than happy to cross it. I'm ex military and know how to handle a fire arm. I do not plan on letting the wingnuts bully me but I also plan to be smart. All I'm asking is that people be aware and alert on election night especially if they plan on going out to watch the results.

15. I wasn't scared before
But I am now that I saw that vid from a Palin rally in Johnstown, PA (only about 80 miles from where I live). Racist bastards! They might just be blowing smoke, but let me tell ya, I wouldn't drive past them with my high deductible-insured, Obama-stickered car!
