To all of the new readers and commenters on this blog, welcome.

As somebody who has watched her public career since she started making herself famous in the Minnesota Senate, I can tell you that scaring people about 'the other' is standard practice for Representative Bachmann. The only difference with Friday's explosion was that Chris Matthews was able to coax her up to the line of crazy, and this time she stepped over it, on live national television. With most of the local media, her talking points go unchallenged. Follow-up questions are rarely asked.

In no particular order, here are some examples of 'the other', all subjects of fear in her playbook.

- Public education, and everybody involved
- Scientists
- Homosexuals (we actively recruit, according to Michele Bachmann)
- Immigrants
- 'Activist' judges
- Liberals

For somebody who is 'wild' about America, she's scared of a lot of the people who live here.
