Media has given Kerry the Green light to go negative.
The media piously admonished the Democrats about "going negative". And they didn't. I have yet to hear the media describe this RNC convention as "negative". No condemnation now after what happened last week? They have created a "free fire zone". The Kerry campaign is fully entitled to go totally negative on Bush and Cheney both personally and politically. And they must. Failure is not an option.

1. I agree. The * camp has been given a free ride. Kerry/Edwards must
go on the attack. I just saw Carville on Meet the Press. If only we had a Carville on Kerry's team. Now there's a person who can tell it like it is. And he's not spinning. He's passionate, and he's telling the truth.

5. Any explanation for why Carville isn't on the team?

2. The media would love anything that creates controversy.
It makes their job so much easier. They don't have to investigate anything, just get people to comment on something that was said or done. That's what passes for journalism these days.

4. Guerilla marketing and an appeal to limbic brain mockery
Create an issue that brings the media to us using viral and guerilla marketing techniques.

please help me get the word out:

most people have not read the 8/6/2001 PDB. I created a postcard size version.

Please print and distribute the image above. High res version for printing available below. Put them on car windows. Hand them out on street corners. We don't need TV buys to get some attention on this issue. We have to undermine Bush's perceived strength. We all are potential disseminators of printed media. We do not need a newspapers permission or lots of money for TV commercials. We need viral grass roots marketing. We need to create a buzz. If we create a buzz with massive distribution of printed ads we will get media coverage. If these start miraculously appearing and no one knows where they are coming from it will start to get media attention. We must mock Rice, Cheney and Ashcroft also. Bush incompetence led to poor choices for crucial posts.

Bush admin. INCOMPETENCE is key to undermining his strength.

7. I want to see Kerry and Edwards...
Edited on Sun Sep-05-04 10:34 AM by liberalmuse
rip the clothes off the Emperor. All they have to do is point out the truth to Americans and keep hammering it. That is all. They don't even have to spin or make up sh*t. My god, the Bushies have handed them everything on a silver platter. Take it!

I want to hear about the lost jobs over and over and over again. I was laid off for the first time in my life under W, and I think many Americans understand how tough it is to find a good job now.

I want to hear about the gross miscalculations in the 'War on Terror'. Where's bin Laden?

I want to hear about the high gas prices and how we must move on to develop alternative energy sources.

I want to hear about how 'No Child Left Behind' is leaving millions of children and teachers behind.

There is simply too much fodder to list. Perhaps Kerry should just take a few major points: The economy, health care/prescription drugs and the war.

I talked to an elderly lady a couple of weeks ago whose prescription drug costs are doubling this year. For the first time in years, my child and I do not have health insurance right now. Hammer this stuff home!

9. They did not attack Kerry on the Cheney deferments. They simply
dismissed them as "irrelevant". The entire Kerry campaign has to make the Bush/Cheney military record the most relevant part of his campaign. I can't see how even this media can possibly attack Kerry with any kind of credibility.

10. And why do you suppose that is....
Do you really think folks like rupert Murdoch and Sun Myung Moon have the democrats' best interest (or the country's best interest) in mind?

"The Kerry campaign is fully entitled to go totally negative on Bush and Cheney both personally and politically"
So that then the media can wring their hands and say, "See? One political party is as bad as the other. Neither one has any answers. No reason to vote this year."

11. Right now they are saying one party is better than the other!
Precisely because they are "tougher". Do you really believe that Kerry can allow his integrity to be bashed in every way and not retaliate in kind? Where has being "positive" got him? Right now the media is demanding Kerry "defend his record"? Why doesn't Bush have to defend his? Because it goes mostly unchallenged. And when it is, the media complain Kerry isn't talking about the future.
