Obama's Plumber Speaks Out Against "Joe the Plumber"

PIPING UP: Troy Dunn, a plumber who has worked on the Obamas' Chicago home, rips unlicensed workers like "Joe the Plumber" yesterday.

CHICAGO - Flush that, "Joe the Plumber"!

Barack Obama's own toilet and sink repairman came to his client's defense yesterday - saying newly famous plumber Joe Wurzelbacher needs a reality check.

Troy Dunn, 44, a licensed journeyman working for Boersma Plumbing in Chicago's Kenwood neighborhood, where Obama lives, told The Post that Wurzelbacher was bad news for the profession.

"That Joe the Plumber isn't even a licensed plumber," said the Democrat, union member and strong Obama supporter.

"He's taking our work. (John) McCain talks about the middle class, and then he brings up this guy as his champion. The middle class is being hurt by people exactly like him," said Dunn, who lives in the Chicago suburb of Oak Forest and has an 8-year-old daughter.

"The biggest problem for this industry is that people like him turn up, unlicensed and working illegally, and they take work away from people who are working aboveboard."

2. Just to make sure that everyone understands.
You have to have a license to do some types of electrical and plumbing work. However, in most states you do not have to belong to a Union. There are also various degrees of license depending on your years of experience and ability to pass a test. Joe the Plumber was a poor choice for McCain. Troy Dunn is a much better example of your average plumber. As a Journeyman he works for a Master Plumber.

5. Very true
In Arkansas at least, electrician apprentices are required to take classes as well as on the job training. I shared an office with a master electrician, so I know that is the case. I assume that it is similar for plumbers.

8. Joe the Scab
Joe the Plumber claimed membership in not just a plumber's union, but a specific local of which he is not and has never been a member.

6. Great story...
...getting hammered in the comment section.

You know, I puke a little bit in my mouth when I hear the clip of McCain on the stump telling his mob to be fearful of "spreading the wealth around". They all cheer because they are too stupid to realize that they would benefit from Obama's tax plan. I will never understand those people who identify with their masters.

10. "Troy the plumber" is not going to get his voice heard
The media is only interested in a fake plumber who speaks on McCain's behalf (even when the dumb ass would be better off in Obama's plan). Troy the plumber represents real people who are concerned about the state of our economy. However, he is not gimmicky enough for the media to pick up. Real people have no say since idiots get bring better ratings.

The only reason McCain still has a chance in this election is because of the media that helps his sorry ass "hailmary" strategy. They love the gimmick and the bullshit from the McCain camp (no wonder how Palin and Joe the Plumber get so much airplay).

It is not a surprise to me that the MSM always feel McCain wins the debates and they are disappointedly surprised when real people have a different perception of the candidates showing preference for Obama. The American media and the Republican Party are so out of touch with reality and I hope history can testify to that for future generations to understand out times.
