Maybe Powell should endorse Bob Barr?
I think Powell is smart enough to know that if he endorses Obama, republicans will dismiss it as a race thing. It's sad that it has to be that way--but that's just the way it is (they said the same thing about Oprah).

For that reason, I will be happy if he:

--Scolds Mcshame for running the dirtiest campaign in American history and says that the McCain now is not the McCain he used to know
--Praises Obama's campaign and says that Obama would make a great president
--Endorses Bob Barr for ideological reasons and spouts the most right wing crap we've ever heard come out his mouth

HOPEFULLY, some conservatives who were going to vote for Mcshame would then switch to Barr, and Independents and swing voters go for Obama.

1. So if a black man endorses another black man it's "just a race thing"?
First, he wouldn't endorse Barr for "ideological reasons" because on domestic policy, believe it or not, Powell is much more moderate than Barr. Secondly, the Powell endorsement, if Obama should get it, is not aimed at republicans but independents.

2. You must have missed the memo. We are supposed to think that the Powell endorsement
is neither valuable or important. He has been out of politics for awhile and has marginalized himself. Noone cares if he endorses Obama. Oh, and all the talk about him endorsing Obama is a trick from the McCain campaign to sandbag Democrats. Jeez, where have YOU been??
