The last few hours have been nothing short of astounding. Since Congresswoman Michele Bachmann appeared on MSNBC’s Hardball earlier tonight, there’s been a deluge of support unlike anything we have seen. We are so grateful to the Daily Kos community and others who’ve sounded the alarm on Bachmann’s extremist, shameful rhetoric and pitched in with whatever they can to help end her tenure in Congress.

Our phones haven’t stopped ringing. Many have called in to say they’re sorry they can only send money and wish they could be here to help. We want you to know what a difference your funds are making and that, thanks in part to your help, we are confident that we will be able to win this race. We are preparing to get out the vote on an unprecedented scale, and with supporters like you we will have the resources we need to get the job done.

I am both hopeful and humbled at the reminder you gave me tonight – that in our country’s darkest times, it is the strength and belief and action of ordinary Americans that ultimately brings about the change we need. I felt so helpless earlier this evening when I saw that Bachmann interview, and a bit hopeless as well. But the way this whole thing has played out is just amazing... and outright inspiring!

I think if the Wetterling campaign had been run better, we could have won. With all the things in Bachmann's record that they could have pounded on, they chose just one trivial point - the fact that Bachmann had once mused during an interview that a flat tax might be an idea worth examining - and pounded away on that to the exclusion of almost everything else.

After the meeting, some attempted to speak further with Bachmann and Vandeveer to emphasize the hurtful consequences of the narrow political policies. Even among the few conservatives in attendance, it was commented that the Defense of Marriage Act was a political waste of time perpetrated by Republicans to divert attention from more pressing issues. One retired farmer remarked, "I'm straight, but God made gays and I don't have any problem with them. The Defense of Marriage thing is a waste of time. They have more important business at the legislature."

Senator Bachmann retired to the restroom and residents began moving toward the exit. Less than a moment later, piercing screams were heard from the ladies' washroom. "Help!!!! HEEEELLLLLLPPPPPP!!!!!" With everyone's attention riveted on the door, Senator Bachmann emerged in a crouching run, crying, "I was being held against my will!" Two women were seen standing behind her, one tall and elderly, the other young and petite, both unassuming and bewildered.

The women reported afterward they had followed the senator into the restroom to continue to question her about education. One had her hand on the door handle, ready to open it, which she immediately did when Senator Bachmann became frightened and began screaming.

Bachmann changed her story to the police about what transpired in the bathroom several times. The police finally had to quietly drop the case.

10. I'm so glad. I'm a bit annoyed that her comments about Blacks & Clinton weren't enough.

But as long as it was done, I'm ecstatic. At least now the word is out and that things are getting done and people are seeing this. She is destructive for the fabric of our society...She has to go home and never come out again.

I hope this reminds the DNC they have to start spreading the wealth to the House Dems we're going to need. We dominate now, but there are way too many racists on the other end of the line like Bachmann that needs to take a vacation indefinitely from politics. Her statement on the House floor at the end of September should have removed her but luckily her presence on MSNBC ruined her position.

The Tink-Man will have the funds to do some heavy promotion. I hope he takes out the fliers gets the people moving and we have more foot soldiers in that area knocking on doors and moving at least 2/3rds of the independent voters to his side. That would definitely ensure a win considering he's currently only 4% behind her. There's plenty of time that he could turn it around, and Bachmann hanging herself on national television just provided that incentive.

and was the best Transportation Commissioner Minnesota has ever had. It is incredibly gratifying to see DU and other lefty websites turn out with such gusto for him in his race against a truly loathsome and crazy human being, and I use that term loosely, like Michele Bachmann. I've been unemployed for nearly three years and don't have any money to throw in his kitty, but it does my heart good to see so many DUers step up to the plate to get rid of this hideous harridan. Keith Ellison, my congressman, is much more typical of the spirit of Minnesota than the ghastly Bachmann.
