An observation at 17 days and counting......

I'm going to take a minute now from my usual snark and debunking, and discuss something important.

Right now the polls look very good for Sen. Obama. He's got some surprising endorsements from newspapers, and people all around the United States are seeing him rightfully as our next president.

And for the first time in eight years, we look to have a president to be proud of again.

But the last thing we want to do is make that victory lap just yet. We have 17 days remaining.

We don't just want a win, we want as much of a landslide as we can manage. We want a President Obama in the White House, and solid Democratic majorities in the House and Senate.

We want a clear enough victory to make sure they can't play tricks and steal it from us. Our country and our future are too important to risk. We need solid leadership and vision to repair the damage caused by eight years of failed strategies and the most corrupt administration ever in our nation's history. We're all here because we believe that Sen. Obama is that leader, has that vision.

This is more important than the tired old lies of Berg and his echo chambers. This is more important than the mindless bigotry and hatred the NeoCons, their misguided allies, and those people with minds poisoned by right-wing radio and Fox "News".

This is more important than the months of slurs, slanders, lies, bigotry and hatred.

We cannot risk getting overconfident. We cannot risk stealing defeat from the jaws of victory.

Failure is NOT an option.

So, as a proud American, as a father, as a patriotic citizen, I ask you all to KEEP FIGHTING!

Fight the lies, fight the hatred, fight those who fear the future.

Fight for that future.

It's going to take President Obama.....

....it's going to take a Democratic Congress.....

....It's going to take a Democratic Senate.....

....It's going to take Democratic activism at the state and local level.....

....It's going to take you. And me. And all others who see our nation as a shining light to guide the way.

17 days left. Now is the time to fight harder than ever.
