100k vote on first day of early voting in NC, 64% were registered Dems, 21% were Rep!
More than 100,000 voters in North Carolina cast a ballot on the first day of early voting in an unprecedented rush to the polls amid a historic presidential election, according to elections data released Friday.

State Board of Elections numbers showed that 64 percent of voters who went to the polls Thursday were registered Democrats, while 21 percent of voters were registered Republicans. Another 15 percent were unaffiliated.

But millions of voters have yet to cast their ballots in North Carolina, and the GOP has carried an advantage in the thousands of mail-in absentee ballots requested around the state after state party officials encouraged some supporters to vote that way.

8. I'm in both Wayne and Pitt (for school)
Wayne is sort of overlooked, but theres a huge AA population in Goldsboro and Fremont. There was 1,875 voters in Wayne for the first day.

Pitt isn't much better, but Greenville has a fairly strong ground game. Obama made a trip to ECU in Greenville during the primaries and packed the arena. People were standing outside listening to Obama through speakers set up for them (He actually came out and spoke to the people that couldn't get in though before the rally, which was really cool.) A huge AA population in Greenville as well, and huge younger population. I'm not sure how many of the college students will be voting there or going to their hometown to vote though.

7. Looks like the Republicans aren't as enthusiastic
This is a good sign, it shows the Democrats are more energized and that's exactly what is needed in a swing state.
