...to re-register from NV to CA.
Some Background -- This week I had to move from Las Vegas where I was registered to vote back to my parents in San Francisco because the place where I was working at went under and the job market in SF is viable unlike Vegas. I'd like to have stayed in NV canvassing and volunteering there until after the election, but I had to move back and besides that I'm starting with the NO-on-8 campaign with the SF Young Democrats. As for my vote, the registration deadline here in CA is 10/20. I also have my NV absentee ballot coming in the mail. I want to vote for Obama in swing state NV, but I also want to vote no on prop 8 in CA. I feel very strongly about gay rights and equal marriage.
I decided to re-register in CA. I know the election isn't over until it's over and that the GOP can still try to steal it, but I have confidence that Obama is going to win. Especially after the final debate. Prop 8 on the other hand is in danger of passing after the recent yes-on-8 TV blitz financed mainly by the mormon church. All in all I think NO-on-8 needs my vote more than NV-for-Obama.
It was a tough decision. I'm going to be kicking myself if Obama loses NV and the election as a result. I don't think it's going to happen, but we'll see. At least I'll still be voting for him in CA.
Obama/Biden 2008. Let's go 60 senate seats. NO on 8.
