Why isn't Acorn suing?
On the face of it, Acorn has a very legitimate suit for slander and defamation against John McCain and his handlers for charging that Acorn “is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history ... maybe destroying the fabric of democracy.” Even with all the qualifiers, it's clear that his intent has been to tie the organization with, at the very least, planning criminal activity. Why is the Acorn legal dept. not putting the McCain campaign on the defensive by creating a newsworthy court case? Even though it would be too costly to prevail against the RNC's deep pockets, the suit could be settled after the election, and would speak the only language those SOB's understand--take no prisoners politics.

1. Why isn't Ayers suing?
To be labeled a terrorist? Never convicted?
Maybe waiting until after the election is better.

2. Or a lawsuit alleging inteference with people's voting rights
through frivolous claims, knowingly fraudulent statements, and willful attempts to gum up the process of executing legitimate registrations?

The GOP actually filed a LAWSUIT on this frivolous bullcrap. They should be strung up for wasting the legal system's time with this, forced to pay attorney's fees, and flayed by whatever judge gets this crapball dumped on his or her desk.

5. Obama is dealing w/ that end of it by writing Mulkasey,
but a narrower, cheaper, and easier for folks to understand Acorn suit for slander and defamation seems almost mandatory, given their right to a clean reputation based on their actual activities.

3. I brought this up days ago
No one seems to know the answer.

They should sue CNN/Lou Dobbs too. Some deep pockets there!

4. Conyers is doing it from the Judiciary Committee angle
Going after the source: http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/10/conyers_on_fbiacorn_probe.php

Of course, we know about the foot-dragging out of that committee and their record on actually making things stick... :eyes: But even if he requests (or subpoenas, if necessary) that the perps appear before a hearing, this may slow some of the crap down.

6. The source of what comes out of McCain's mouth is McCain

Acorn isn't responsible for stopping the government from aiding fraud. The Obama campaign and the DNC fortunately are doing their job this time by pressing for a special prosecutor to investigate partisanship in the enforcement of election integrity.

Baseless charges against Acorn by Presidential candidate McCain in the largest possible venue is most definitely something that almost all large organizations would dispute in court. And if McCain is shown up as a liar, well it wouldn't be Acorn's fault, would it?
