I am so not proud of myself tonight. This is indeed a new low for me.
I stole a McCain yard sign.

But there is more to the story. My neighborhood does not permit signs in yards so they have accummulated on a grassy knoll just outside the subdivision. My Obama sign has been stolen three times. Tonight I drove by and saw that not only was the Obama sign stolen, but a McCain one was put in it's place. So I pulled over just to check if once again they had simply thrown it into the woods. Nope, it was definitely gone. I couldn't help myself. I slipped the plastic McCain sign right off it's posts. It is now lining the cats' litter box.

Not my proudest moment. So I donated $2.00 to the McCain campaign.

WHAT?!

Yes I did. But this isn't necessarily bad news. I have purchased from the Obama store but have declined to donate directly in cash. Horribly irrational and superstitious, but every time I donate money to a candidate they lose. Yep, I have never in my life ever donated to the winning side. I am convinced my money is cursed.

So in one fell swoop I eased my conscience a little on the sign and doomed McCain to a resounding defeat.

Oooo, I hear scratching in the other room. Me thinks McCain's name may be in the process of being shat upon.

5. Too funny
Don't feel guilty, everytime I pass a McCain sign near me (and there aren't too many of them in suburban NJ but some), I want to drive over them, and their lawns.

But that wouldn't be prudent.

My kids didn't think I was serious about putting it in the kitty litter box. Mommy of the year here set a wildly poor example for her children. Stole a sign, wrote "SUCKS" across it in bold black marker and then used it to line the litter box. And I checked. His name has indeed been shat upon. I hope they do not take after me.

When I was 16 I was on my way home from work and caught an incumbent stealing signs.

Guess what happened... the incumbent lost.

(Going to search the Seattle times to see if they have stories from the 80s online LOL)

No, this has gotten far too difficult to endure. Just think back on election night 2004. Or the long winding road to the cesspool in 1999. That's a hell of a long time to go through this awful nightmare. All the time with them breaking the laws, laughing at us, and killing Iraqis and Afghanis. Oh, and torturing people.

Feel good. You've been forgiven. By me! :)

I haven't been to church in decades. But my heart is always in church. Actually, my dad used to be a minister. He's one of the only people I've ever known who really does understand the bible. He has studied it like an engineering book. Just connecting dots. Oh crap, the last time I wrote something like this I got the rabid responses.

I hear you. It's hard to believe this has been eight years. A long difficult education. But it has been worth every second just to get to have this kind of communication. Priceless. :)

DID STATE REP. SANDERS SNITCH HIS RIVAL'S SIGNS? NOT TRUE, HE SAYS

By Neil Modie P-I Reporter

WEDNESDAY, September 14, 1988
Section: News, Page: B3

State Rep. Paul Sanders flatly denied being a late-night campaign sign- snatcher yesterday and said a complaint made by his opponent to Bellevue police is a sign of desperation.

"No, absolutely not, that's ridiculous," Sanders said of the allegation made by his Republican primary election challenger, former state Rep. Steve Van Luven. A teen-age supporter of Van Luven said he saw Sanders steal one of his opponent's yard signs from a Bellevue lawn late Sunday.

Bellevue police Lt. Steve Bourgette said a report on the investigation of Van Luven's sign-stealing complaint probably will be turned over to the city prosecutor's office today.

Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 07:28 PM by Sydnie
In 2004, I was driving from my state to a neighboring state to canvas for Kerry. I had planned on doing a bit of bill posting when possible so I had printed up a good number of the DNC's graphic of the two faced Bush picture. I also purchased several cans of spray adhesive so I would be ready when the opportunity knocked.

Well, on many on and off ramps on the highway there were bush/cheney signs and I just had to pull over and grab my supplies and slap those home made banners right over the top of those signs. So, I didn't remove the signs exactly, but I did alter the meaning from it's original intent.

There, I said it and I feel better.

Maybe in a few weeks I can come clean about some of the freeway blogging I did during that period too.

Ahhh, memories. I will enjoy them.

What they did was slip off my Obama plastic and replace it with McCain's plastic. So it was essentially juvenile tit for tat on my part. We're both guilty of sign stealing.

35. Habanero paste slathered on my sign (and those of neighbors) has worked great.
We all had signs stolen before I started grinding up those fiery hot peppers with a little olive oil and coating the outer edges of our signs with the napalm paste. After that, I did notice my sign askew once, but it was still there.

I hope the Rethug who grabbed my sticky sign put his hand to his nose to see what the goo was and cauterized every nose hair and sinus cell he had.

That's one neo-Nazi skinhead Rethuglican who is now bald on the inside of his skull as well as the outside.

greased the next one up with vaseline mixed with capsaicin powder. I was able to identify the thief the next day when the high school kids got off their school bus. This go round the HOA is clamping down and not permitting any political signage of any kind. Probably all for the best actually. I'm not sure I want to know which of my neighbors are dumbbutt fucktard stupid.

There is a story behind it. I live in a gated condo complex. I had an Obama bumper sticker on my car and two weeks ago I parked out front. I walked my dog past the car and saw my sticker still on my car. The next morning I came out and the sticker had been stolen.

There is a McCain supporter that lives in the same building. He parks his car five spaces away from mine. I was so pissed off after I realized someone in my own complex had stolen my sticker, I peeled his off his car in retaliation. I have no idea if it was him who took mine. It was an eye for an eye kind of thing.

Oh well, just stickers!

This morning I was walking my dog and there, right in the middle of this public field that I pay taxes to maintain, was a McCain sign. It has no business polluting my view. My Obama sign has been stolen as has every other Obama sign in my town. Whoever the sign thief is, he/she has no right to put ANY political signs on public land, least of all a McPalin sign! So I plucked it out of the ground and happily dropped it in the trash. So there!

63. Since we're in the confessional...
one night I was walking my dog through the neighborhood and grabbed a ten-commandments sign out of a neighbor's yard.

What a perfect use for a McCain sign.

73. There's one McCain sign I drive by every day on my way to work
it sits oh so close to the side of the street -- a street with no sidewalks. You don't know how many times I have imagined accidentally running over it a bit, just a nudge ... okay, plowing the hell over it! It'd be an easy thing to manage, for someone so inclined.

On a related note, I was driving on this same street today, behind a woman with a bumper sticker that read: "Obama makes me throw up a little in my mouth." On the side of her vehicle, she had a large advertisement: Reno Signs: http://www.renosigns.biz/

I just left them a message about how offended I was by their bumper sticker and how I would never, ever use their services as a result. Not that it will matter, but, I feel better about it.

79. You are not stealing!!
You hung up the Obama sign. It was your post not theirs. If you hang your undies on the clothesline and someone comes and switches yours with their dirty old ones full of holes, you are not obliged to keep them on the line! In fact, you can rightly use them to line the kitty litter box.
