SCOTUS Decision: Highlights importance of races other than POTUS!
Everybody is busy commending the Supreme Court for deciding unanimously to prevent the Ohio GOP from disenfranchising upwards of 200,000 voters.

Of course we all know that this points to the importance of picking a President who will pick wise Justices.

What is being missed in this story is the importance of electing Democrats to local and state offices like Supervisor of Elections, Secretary of State, State House, State Senate, Attorney General and Governor.

Had Ohio's voting system been under the control of Republican Blackwell as it was 4 years ago, there would never had been a lawsuit for the Supreme Court to decide. Mr. Blackwell would have simply colluded with Ohio Republicans to disenfranchise according to arbitrary and unfair rules as he did then.

Remember it is important to work for and donate to local and state candidates and to do it all year long every year. It's not enough to just come out in September of a Presidential year and to be in hibernation the rest of the time.

Only by working all the time, every year can we put our Presidential team close enough to the goal line that we can push them across when the time comes.

We need Dems in local and state offices because elections are RUN by local and state officers and local and state courts have a big say in what happens as well.

Thanks,

Doug D.

2. Absolutley correct! That is how the RWers and Fundies started to gain influence..
They started at the lowest level, in local elections and putting people on the School Boards..and worked their way up from there.
Who said "All politics is local"? That is a very important rule to remember. If we only have people at the top, and no one at the foundation supporting them, we do not have a really well built organization..
