I almost forgot: McLoser equated transplants with cosmetic surgery the other night!
As a member of the autism community, I got all hung up on his equating autism with Down's syndrome. Then I remembered this:

http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/kausfiles/default.aspx

14) McCain on his health plan:

Now, 95 percent of the people in America will receive more money under my plan because they will receive not only their present benefits, which may be taxed, which will be taxed, but then you add $5,000 onto it, except for those people who have the gold-plated Cadillac insurance policies that have to do with cosmetic surgery and transplants and all of those kinds of things

Loose cannon Kaus goes on to take a gratuitous swipe at the British health care system, but the point remains: McLoser apparently thinks transplants are some sort of luxury item. Besides, why would McLoser be against cosmetic surgery? Do you honestly think that Trophy Wife hasn't had anything done?

1. That's right!

There was so much outrageous stuff there, that I should have taken notes like I did during the first debate.

That comment really jumped out at me as well. I'm surprised there hasn't been more buzz about this.

2. I heard that, too.
"Honey, what do you think? Should I get a new heart? The old one makes me look so old..."

Hey, he's probably not against cosmetic surgery, just thinks it should be a privilege for the rich. If everyone got plastic surgery, how could we tell the rich from the poor???

3. That was a very strange statement. There's a rather large difference
between face lift and kidney transplant. You shouldn't need "gold plated" insurance for a life saving procedure.

4. I tried to post as soon as he said that, but DU was hung up for me
Un-be-frickin'-lievable. And the tone of disdain in his voice was extra special! :eyes:

5. Transplants!
I really appreciate you noticing that! My daughter was sickened. My son-in-law (30) and two of my grandsons (9 & 4) are facing very real heart transplant possibilities. I wanted to believe he left off the word "hair." This is much too real for our family.

8. It was a botched jab at Biden. He mentioned hair transplants in the previous debate...
when he did his "cadillac health plan" line. But he forgot the word "hair" this last time around.

13. Yes. A cheap shot, but not a big issue to me
As Ms Browl pointed out, who has such a 'cadillac' health plan anyway? If you're wealthy, you can pay the cost of elective surgery out of pocket. My understanding is that insurance only covers cosmetic surgery insofar as it is to correct a genuine medical problem - eg facial or other reconstruction after an accident, some kinds of breast reduction surgery to reduce orthopedic (back) pain and so forth. 'Vanity' surgery is not usually covered, although extra care resulting from complications might be.

I suspect most people will remember this as an example of McCain not living in the real world more than his slip of the tongue. I do not think he was trying to equate kidney or other vital transplants with nose jobs or breast augmentation.

10. Well, Cindy obviously has had cosmetic surgery,
but she can afford to pay for it without health insurance. I don't think you can compare the two. He's obviously not against it, he's against health insurance covering it. And transplants too, apparently. :eyes:

Equating a heart transplant with new breasts = absurd.

Teachers don't need to be certified if they served in the military.
Apparently has either never read or is too stupid to understand Obama's healthcare plan with respect to small business requirements to provide health care to their employees.
Apparently has either never read or is too stupid to understand that Obama's tax plan lowers taxes on 95% of americans paying income tax, and on 98% of small busines owners.
