They piss people off.

I even get pissed off when I get a Democratic automated call.

People absolutely HATE automated phone calls...that's why "do no call" lists are so popular.

I think McCain will piss off as many voters as he'll reel in with these robo-calls.

1. They are a voter suppression tool.
Yes they piss people off, that is the intent. Fear, anger, disgust. But the goal is to alienate people from the political process and discourage participation.

2. I tend to agree...especially if it's an anonymous voice with a very negative, be scared, message.

But let's consider the simple minded. Those republicans who aren't rabid haters, who are uninformed and uninterested, but will vote for McCain by rote because republicans tend to be responsible when it comes to voting. They would actually be mildly amused if a well-known and respected person called with a very positive message. I think Obama should hit these people, who probably won't vote for him anyway, so there's nothing to lose, with a positive message from someone who everybody loves. There are many to choose from.

3. you can robo call some of the people all of the time or
you can robo call all the people some of the time,

but every once in a while, usually when the country is in distress the country won't pay attention to Ayers, robo calls or Acorn and get up and vote to save themselves from further pain.

4. I called my state's McKKKain HQs
I politely, but strongly expressed my disgust, etc......for their robo calls spewing lys about the opponent. I told them I was voting for change and was sick of the negative campaign and encouraged them to raise the bar but felt they wouldn't accept the challenge.
