And it's a Christian high school. In these parts, that means SMALL. I guess he wants an intimate setting.

Obama's event is free and open to the public. McCain's is ticket only. (I gather that is how they are making sure no stuffed monkeys come.)

Here is where Obama will be:

And here is where McCain will be:

They are all of the church which isn't even at the same location. It's in another burb about 15 miles away from the high school.

16. I am going to be there EARLY
By noon at least. But maybe earlier. I think the park opens at 9 am?

Parking is a BITCH. We usually park at the Hallmark employee lot when we go to that park but last time I was there, they had it chained off and weren't letting anyone in. And since the Hall family (who own Hallmark) are major repuke donors, it wouldn't surprise me if they block that lot again.

18. Thanks!
I get SOOO lost in KC,but I do know that area a little better as I take my toddler to Children's Mercy all the time. Do you have any clue if there will be consessions, can we bring water bottles, etc? I've never been to anything like this before,no clue what to expect. We have a long drive,we're down in Ottawa,a TOTALLY red town!! I'll be taking lots of pics, too, and my camera makes pretty good videos as well! :bounce:

22. I don't know about concessions but I would imagine yes there will be some
When Michelle was here last week, they had all sorts of concessions, with drinks and souvenirs.

The invite says no bags but I wonder if I can bring my camera bag? I want to use my new lens to try to get a good close up picture.

I went to school in Emporia. I have driven through Ottawa thousands of times. Pretty town. Didn't know it was so red but I am not surprised. So is Emporia, and more so now than when I was there 30 years ago.

19. I remember that about Hallmark being for
bush or something way back and I was pissed..vowing not to buy Hallmark again.

Luckily I work in a co-op where we get all kinds of innovative, creative cards that are no doubt distributed by Progressives.

24. Hallmark main office is right across the street from this park
and it has a HUGE employee parking lot. As long as I can remember (and I am a lifelong resident of KC), that's where you park when you go to Liberty Memorial for an event. There is no parking at the park. And since most of the events at this park are on weekends, using the Hallmark lot is not an inconvenience for Hallmark.

Then when I went down there for the Labor Day parade last year, they had it chained off and weren't letting people park there. So I am willing to bet there will be no parking there on Sat when Obama is here.

I grew up with the Halls and went to school with their kids. Really nice family and they have done a lot for KC. But they have really supported Bush while he has been in office. Makes me want to puke.

20. In Kansas City, MO
This is the National World War 1 Museum. It is a remarkable place and in 1919, 2.5 million dollars was collected in only 3 weeks to build it. My dad use to take me there as a little girl and I was always in awe. When it was dedicated famous commanders from all over Europe and America were present. If you ever come to Kansas City, make a point to visit there. It is beautiful and full of historical facts. To reach the top of the tower you must ride an elevator and then walk 45 steps to the very top.
What a marvelous place for Obama to come. There will be thousand of people there I am sure. I trying to plot out where I am going to park. lol

I got that one too,and right before the debate! I wonder about PURSES,would that be considered a bag??I assume so! I'm sure I read something about a metal detector on another website,so I'm thinking there will be a LONG line to get in. My camera is on a cord,so I can put it around my neck.Good thing it won't be raining !!

30. If it is like when Kerry was here and whenever a president is here
they will search bags and purses and wand everyone. That will take a lot of time.

I am leaving my purse in the car.
