Joe The "Registered-Republican" Plumber
Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 09:46 AM by kpete
Joe Wurzelbacher doesn't immediately turn up in the Ohio voter registration database, leading to some speculation last night that he's not registered to vote.

But the Toledo Blade reports that he appears to be a registered Republican, and a primary voter at that:

Linda Howe, executive director of the Lucas County Board of Elections, said a Samuel Joseph Worzelbacher, whose address and age match Joe the Plumber’s, registered in Lucas County on Sept. 10, 1992. He voted in his first primary on March 4, 2008, registering as a Republican.

Ms. Howe said that the name may be misspelled in the database.

(This is, incidentally, the reason people worry about purging the voter rolls. They're such a mess to begin with.)

1. I think Joe just got uncaged.
I also think Joe is not a plumber at all. Joe the Investor is a liar. But that's just my opinion.

2. Poor Joe
He makes $280,000 PROFIT and under Obama's plan his taxes would go up $900 bucks.

20. Because he changed his story
Seems he can't keep his lies straight:

Joe the Plumber Eligible for Obama Tax Cut?
October 16, 2008 10:33 AM

ABC News' Chris Bury is outside Toledo, near the home of Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, aka "Joe the Plumber," and reports that Wurzelbacher -- such a key part of Sen. John McCain's critique of Sen. Barack Obama's economic proposals -- acknowledged that he wants to purchase the plumbing business for $250-280,000, not that he would net that much in profits.

He would make much less, he said.

Which would seem to indicate that he would be eligible for an Obama tax cut, not that he would be subject to the tax increase from 36% to 39% Obama would impose on those making more than $200,000 per person, or $250,000 per family.

18. Since he made $40,000 last year and owes back taxes, he's a long way from there.
It's his fantasy that he might one day be one of the wealthy elite. Right now, he ought to be supporting Obama. But he prefers to live in a fantasy world where McCain's policies benefit him.

3. Joe got very upset when the MSNBC guy asked him about his being registered as Natural Law Party.
Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 09:52 AM by flpoljunkie
'Joe' was visibly perturbed and said he did not remember that.

Afterward, 'Joe' went on a rant about not believing in Social Security and how the media was not covering how we were winning in Iraq. Joe seems to be reveling in his 'fifteen minutes of fame.'

Also, said the McCain campaign had asked him to join them at their rallies this weeekend, but he said he had already had plans to go to New York for the weekend.

From the comments section of an ABCNews blog:

According to Lucas County, Ohio court records, there is a Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher who has a state income tax lien of $1,182.98. According to the court record he lives on a street that is part of the Lincoln Green subdivision, which is where Joe the Plumber lives. Is it the same guy? I don't know. But I hope somebody ( like ABC News) checks it out before making a folk hero out of him. The county's website is www.co.Lucas.Oh.us . Maybe it's a different guy. Who knowss.

Here's the court docket:

Tsk, tsk Joe. And you have a son in public schools too! Not willing to pay for his education?

So let's get this straight, he's related to Charles Keating and doesn't pay his taxes. Yep, that sounds like a sure McCain voter to me!

Average, honest, hard-working American? Not so much.

12. What's the Matter With Kansas = ...
What's the Matter With Kansas = What's the matter with Joe. If he only understood the real policy implications he would not vote against his self interests. For instance, McCain voted to massively increase the self employment tax and his policies favor big business and strangle small business.

As a small business owner who has studied economics I enthusiastically support Obama. The empirical record of supply side vs. demand side economic policies is all the proof we need.

13. Those dockets are hospital bill collections
Looks like Joe the Plumber could benefit from Obama's healthcare plan. And if you're making 250K, why don't you pay your bill before you end up in court over it?

Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 10:20 AM by PelosiFan
his money how he likes instead of having the government be his "parent", he is an admitted conservative, and he sounds like a typical libertarian. He also thinks that McCain won last night's debate!
