Kind of a mercy killing, though.

No one loved Bloom County more than I, but Breathed's lost it. Outland was wretched and obsessed with bashing the supposed "PC" police.
And "Opus" has just been a contrived bore.

Anyway, the final story so far goes that Opus has been told by God that he needs to find the place he wants to remain for eternity, because when he dies, he's stuck there.
The last strip had him thrown into Gitmo by mistake.
