Charlie Crist "not buying GOP's ACORN-ophobia"
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 11:32 AM by madfloridian
Governor Crist and Kurt Browning, the Secretary of State who is in charge of elections..both agree that ACORN is no problem in Florida.

Crist not buying GOP's ACORN-ophobia

Despite claims by the Republican National Committee that the integrity of Florida's voting system is at risk thanks to the registration efforts of ACORN, a liberal leaning group that backs Sen. Barack Obama, Republican Gov. Charlie Crist said he's not buying it.

"There are some who sort of enjoy chaos," Crist told reporters this morning.

Crist said he has "enormous confidence" in his secretary of state, Republican Kurt Browning, who reports there is no widespread voter fraud in Florida. A handful of bogus registrations, including one for Mickey Mouse, have been submitted by ACORN in Central Florida, but they've been caught by elections officials or the organization itself.

Browning is too busy implementing the new No Match No Vote act that really IS keeping down new voter registration than worrying about acorns.

1. Did ACORN actually endorse Obama?
Do they do presidential endorsements?

23. No Match No vote is claimed to be a part of the federal voter registration requirements
But the Florida version just came into effect in September. Pretty much it says if a voter registration application does not exactly match whatever the state has in their databases, the voter will not be registered. The Obama campaign considers it part of the voter suppression movement and is reassuring people that it will not be as strictly enforced as some of the alarmists think.

I have not heard of any voter registration applications being rejected because of it, but then, I might not hear if they were.

5. What if Mickey Mouse gave them a verifiable address in Orlando?
He DOES have a place there, you know?

Of course he shouldn't be registered to vote there, if he's already registered in Anaheim CA. That would actually BE voter fraud. But not the only case in Florida (just ask Ann Coulter)

I don't know what Crist is thinking, but I know you do not blow off your party's Presidential candidate to go to Disney World.

10. The repukes have a lot of nerve talking
about voter fraud in Florida when the country wouldn't have had to put of with another bush for 8 years if it hadn't of been for VOTER FRAUD.

There better not be any voter fraud in Florida coming from Kurt Browning.

15. Crist also signed an executive order restoring voting rights to ex-felons.
As a result, more than 120,000 ex-felons have had their voting rights restored.

25. I thought he was turning orange?

You would think a guy who lived in Florida could get an actual tan? Or failing that, at least install a fake & bake bed in the governor's mansion....just like Sarah did.
