Is the internet going to balance the media in this election?
The way it's balanced out the funding disparities?

Lord knows it's true that the media's working overtime to spin for Bush, with a few bones tossed to Kerry to cover their a*sses.

Are we just a little corner talking to ourselves with no real effect? Or are we a major force this time that isn't being reflected in the polls (even the tied ones)?

Honest question. I can see both sides. On the one hand, this is the first election with a truly organized internet presence for Dems, on the other, Dean had powerful net roots and...well. Is what we see on DU having any driving force on the media (which seems to echo some of the stuff here a day or two later) or are we just reading the same signs they are?

What do you think?

1. I don't know what to make of this
If there was more Republican TV coverage (which I suspect) or whether Libs and progressives are on the internet of elsewhere.

2. I saw a Salon story (Bush family friend/ANG) cited on CNN International...
I thought it was a good sign. We do generate stories that filter up. It's a start. But we can't compete with Big Media. If our democracy lasts until Gen Y gets hold of it, I think the net will rule.

3. Here's how I see it:

Cable "News" is the Number One enemy along with GOP HATE RADIO.
They have the reach to give the populace negative thoughts about Kerry and Prop Up Bushler.

Ted KKKopel pretends to be an objective journalist when he is just covering for the Criminal Acts of Bushco.

PBS bends over backwards to accomodate the Right Wingers.

NPR = National Propaganda Radio

The Big Three: CBS/NBC/ABC give us balanced coverage for 30 minutes each night. While the coverage is fair and gets a large audience, it is not biased towards the Democrats so it cannot have the same efect as CNNFOXMNGOPCNBC.

60 Minutes (CBS) has been hard on Bush.

The New York Times and Washington Post have finnally called * on his shit and the NY Times is writing many Pro-Kerry articles.

Air-America Radio is good to rally the base of the party come November.

The Democratic Talking heads are no where to be found. We must get them out there with our "memes" if we want to debunk the Rethug spin.

The Internet can work for us but the question is HOW MANY PEOPLE are able to get REGULAR access to it?

4. Without the internet we wouldn't have a chance.
And we wouldn't know much either.

5. Insightful Analysis- It Has Been Difficult For Me To Accept
But the evidence that ALL cable networks have been effectively co-opted by a very disciplined right wing is on display every night. As a news junkie it has been very difficult for me to wean myself from watching, but this last week the combination of the RNC and my acquiring satellite radio has enabled me to say no to the sweet poison offered by Chris Matthews et al. I realize that many see Olberman as a solid ally, but when the parent company's(GE) Executives make their big house payments by selling B-2 engines there is no way he will last at least not on MSNBC. I prefer to not get hooked like I did on Hardball only to see proof of the right's handiwork every night.
