John McCain votes for Obama
Posted by CarlWeiser at 10/14/2008 1:49 PM EDT on Cincinnati.com

Barry Horstman reports:

John McCain voted for Barack Obama for president in Cincinnati Tuesday, and even the Republicans can’t call it a dirty trick.

That’s because the John McCain in question is a 57-year-old retired industrial electrician from College Hill, not the Republican presidential nominee from Arizona.

McCain, whose name has produced a lot of good-natured ribbing from neighbors and friends during this political year, said he voted for Obama because he’s “the candidate who’s going to bring real change to Washington.”

After casting his early vote for Obama at the Hamilton County Board of Elections downtown, McCain explained that he also backed Obama during this year’s primary after initially considering voting for U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton.

As to his namesake, McCain said he has been telling anyone who asks: “Don’t vote for me.”

If the Republicans have a strategy for combating Tuesday’s gambit by the Obama campaign – scouring Ohio phone books searching for a B. Obama, for example – they aren’t saying.

Maybe they’re just Biden their time.

1. I guarantee you that anyone else in the country named "Obama"
is probably a relative.

3. I saw a yard sign today..
that was a life size cardboard cut-out of John McCain holding an Obama/Biden yard sign. Really eye catching.
