Palin vindicated?

Governor offers Orwellian spin

Sarah Palin's reaction to the Legislature's Troopergate report is an embarrassment to Alaskans and the nation.

She claims the report "vindicates" her. She said that the investigation found "no unlawful or unethical activity on my part."

Her response is either astoundingly ignorant or downright Orwellian.

Page 8, Finding Number One of the report says: "I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act."

In plain English, she did something "unlawful." She broke the state ethics law.

................

Bottom line: Gov. Palin, read the report. It says you violated the ethics law.

1. "Because if she had actually read it, she couldn't claim "vindication" with a straight face. "]
You may want this to be true, but it is not. John Dean, in his book Conservatives Without Conscience, clearly stated that they learn to look your straight in the eyes and LIE. That's a good neo-con, which Falin can be categorized as.

2. I'm not sure about "unlawful," but "unethical" for sure
that's what it means to abuse your power.

Her mendacity is astounding. Sort of.

4. She violated a state ethics law
It's clearly "unlawful" as well as unethical.

6. The report's first finding expliclty said she violated state ethics law. Also violated Court Order
Edited on Tue Oct-14-08 08:29 AM by Essene
By abusing public power and trust, in going after somebody for personal vendetta.

Ironically... a judge had previously put forth a court order telling the Palins to stop harassing this same man.

There's not a lot of wiggle room there.

10. The law is a law she pushed to put into affect in Alaska.
It's a state law. It's also "unethical"...which means she did so something illegal. It was within the power of the Governor to fire a comissioner...be that anyone. However in her case she put pressure on the office and Monegan to make a decision and that was found unethical and against the law.

3. they are making sure the next investigation has real legal teeth and draws blood
She's clearly crossed too many Republicans and power brokers, and shown herself to be a charlatan.

I dont think Alaskans of any party take too lightly her attempts to undermine serious investigations and to hide behind a fleet of lawyers flown in from Washington, either

7. And the next investigation better cover her HOUSE.
You know, the one that Todd and some buddies built. Probably with materials they did not pay for.

11. I think the whole thing is because of the corrupt nature of Alaska politics.
Alaska has now recieved a great deal of publicity and their government and politics even more scrutiny due to Stevens and Palin's actions. People will be looking at this more and more and the politicians in Alaska will have to do major reformation plans. They've been lieing to the people and been lax in their duties and Palin is a reflection of that. They're all willing to get rid of her in order to save themselves...

They will do whatever they can and to the extent they can to stop this nonsense and Palin is in the thick of it.

5. Further proof that she's just more of the same.
Probably more like Bush/Cheney than most people realize. She believes that spin trumps truth, and that her views have some special legitimacy. Her fundamentalist, "don't confuse me with facts" mindset also comes through crystal clear.

12. McNasty calls Palin's reaction straight talk -- notice Kelly O'Donnell & the traveling press pool
having nothing-nadda to say about it. Odd -- how hard they have to work to maintain their seat on the Free Ride Express.
