Election Day advice - this should go without saying, but...
if paper ballots are offered as an option, TAKE IT! Where I vote, we are allowed to choose between Diebold machines and paper ballots. Needless to say, I choose the paper ballots, for obvious reasons. Anything you can do to make it harder for them to steal your vote, do it!

1. K&R - I'm sure we all know this, but it's a great reminder to tell our friends and family. nt

2. I completed Election Judge class this weekend.
Our county has optical scan paper ballots, but each precinct will also have one electronic voting machine. Voters can choose paper or machine, but we were told that the machine usually takes about 2-3 times as long to vote on. The reason - it will take seven screens to work through the entire ballot. Also, since many people aren't familiar with the voting machine it will likely take them longer than if they just used a paper ballot.

The machines our county uses do have a paper roll that prints out the person's vote before they cast their ballot. The roll stays with the machine & at the end of the night is placed in the transfer box with the paper ballots.

For those who might be interested in performing this critical civic duty, it's a very interesting & educational process. I was a judge in '04 & it was a great experience.
