Source: Kansas City Star

The SurveyUSA analysis:

"In Missouri, John McCain's Lead Among White Voters Has Evaporated

"In an election for President of the United States in battleground Missouri today, three weeks until votes are counted, Democrat Barack Obama has momentum and a meaningful advantage in SurveyUSA's latest tracking poll, conducted for KMOX radio in St Louis and KCTV-TV in Kansas City.

"The contest in Missouri has swung 10-points to Obama since SurveyUSA's last track point, 3 weeks ago. Then, McCain led by 2. Today, Obama leads, 51% to 43%.

2. Maybe in St. Louis and Kansas City
but not in the rest of the state, especially southern Missouri. I've personally visited that part of the state, and believe me, they don't grow fundie wackos like I've seen (BTA, that was in 1990).

It even felt different there. I never imagined that Springfield would be a possibility.

9. I sure hope so!
But I doubt it. St. Louis County, City, Jackson County (KCMO) and Boone County are pretty blue but I don't even like to leave St. Louis county and head into the nether regions of Missouri. Scary place. OTOH, I drove down Clayton Road for 10 miles yesterday (one of the wealthiest areas of the state) and was grinning from ear to ear. Obama signs outnumber McCain by at least 3 to 1. All those Obama signs on 2 million dollar houses just thrills me.

5. I phoned for Dems in So.MO during the 06 election season
I found a LOT of older Republicans disgruntled about the War and the Economy, intending to vote Democratic.

This wouldn't surprise me at all... delight yes, surprise, no.

7. I live in SW Missouri --- had one of those robo surveys
Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 04:44 PM by MadinMo
yesterday. Normally I hang up on robo calls, but since this was a survey I stayed on the line.

I wonder if these figures came from that survey.....

Then again, it would not surprise me that the St Louis and Kansas City areas are pro-Obama. The rest of the State however.........

8. This Missourian buys it. The urban areas always go blue, but the amount of support
Obama is getting in the southwestern part of the state is very heartening (regardless of that stupid billboard). If he's getting popular here, that means he's off the charts in the cities (by MO standards)

11. Springfield
I sure hope the Springfield News-Reader endorses Obama. Springfield is the 3rd largest city in the state and has been growing in size for years now.

12. They ARE called the Show Me state. So I can imagine McLiar
being an obvious disappointment.

And they may have heard about McLiar's plans to cut 1.3 trillion from Medicare and make medical benefits part of our taxable income -- and all this suffering so that he can institute a $2500 individual tax credit I can give to an insurance company to pay for my medical insurance.

14. For today, maybe...
If Obama has any chance of snagging Missouri on Election Day, it will be extremely, extremely, extremely close.

15. Greene County is the key.
If Mcsame gets less then 58% of the vote there he is finished. Claire McCaskil(sp?) got 44% of the vote and she won.
