Palin's "Hockey Mom" photo op = perfect metaphor for the GOP
Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 02:42 PM by Bippity Boo
Think of the utter disrespect for human beings as individuals it takes to force a stadium full of people assembled for another purpose (a hockey game) to serve as human props for your photo opportunity, and to drown them out with music so they have no voice and cannot object. Basically, Palin raped those people. She wanted to take something from them, and she gagged their mouths until she got what she wanted, a photograph in which they are to serve as objects, rather than human beings, objects for Palin to use at will, like the animals she hunts from helicopters, and the Artic National Wildlife Refuge, which she wants to whore out to the highest bidder.

How many times have the GOP used people in this fashion? 9/11, Katrina, the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. All of the masses of human beings on the ground in these places are used by them as human props to glorify their gargantuan, unearned egos. If this is the face of Christianity in the year 2008, I can think of no greater repudiation of that philosophy.

2. Well stated. She did 'utterly disrespect' them.
But still they booed. I heard them.

3. I object to your use of "rape." I don't to derail the thread, because I think generally you're right
and I just had to get that off my chest.

4. "Basically, Palin raped those people" --- um...
It was a pretty inane photo op. She dropped a puck, she waved, she walked off the ice. I doubt this changed any votes. Politicians that you personally disagree with still have the right to show up in public and perform inoccuous publicity events.

If you can't see the difference between dropping a hockey puck and waving to crowd versus Bush's empty headed, hypocritical photo ops at Baghram Air Force Base or while speeding over New Orleans, you might want to get your spectacles fixed.

Show me the politician who doesn't use voters for a prop. I'll show you a bad politician.
