Chuck Todd moves WV from Likely McCain to Lean McCain - says somthing happening
Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 11:38 AM by RamboLiberal
From Chuck Todd, Mark Murray, Domenico Montanaro, and Carrie Dann
*** Obama expands his lead: Three weeks until Election Day, Obama now holds a more than 100-vote lead in NBC's latest electoral map. He's ahead of McCain 264-163, with 111 votes in the Toss-up column. Last week, Obama was up 264-174. Our changes: We moved Missouri from Lean McCain to Toss-up; Oregon and Washington from Lean Obama to Likely Obama; and West Virginia from Likely McCain to Lean McCain.Something's happening in West Virginia -- yes, West Virginia -- because of the economic angst. Obama's been buying a bunch of TV time in markets that bleed into West Virginia, and the numbers have been closing for a time. By the way, political analyst Charlie Cook is moving West Virginia all the way to Toss-up. If that state is on the move, could Arkansas be far behind? Both are states that can show Democratic movement in a bad economic environment.

Remember McCain is having to send Caribou Barbie on a bus swing through WV. I know a bit about WV and would be astonished if they went to Obama - but hell, let McCain burn precious resources there! People I know in shooting community down there were never strong for McCain, they liked Ron Paul - though they just love Sarah.

BTW, I live in Pittsburgh where the TV stations bleed in to WV and Ohio, and Obama has really stepped up the ads. McCain seemed to burn his money early on TV and radio here. In fact a few weeks ago I was getting discouraged by how his ads outnumbered Obama. No more. In fact sometimes Obama is running 2 ads in same time slot. Last night I was watching CBS 60 Minutes, Amazing Race, Cold Case and was loving the sheer number of great Obama ads. Radio ads as well!

3. Cook political Report has moved it all the way to "Tossup"
I'm going to have to spend three hours updating all the races changes that occurred while I was on vacation last week.

4. Yeah I noticed that on another polling map today...

I thought it was a mistake at first. What a nice surprise! This poll also had Georgia as a lean McCain state.

5. Yes, Arkansas is likely still far behind
Arkansas polled about 6 points worse than West Virginia during the same time period; WV had been within 5 points in three of four September polls. Arkansas may now be just within five points.

7. Didn't Bll Clinton say yesterday at the Biden rally that he was headed to WV immediately
after his part of the speech? I can't remember exactly, just thought it odd that he noted that he'd been told he was being immediately dispatched to some state and couldn't stay for the whole rally.

This would make sense, if he were part of the team going to do battle there. Maybe someone else caught the state, or can confirm he said WV?

8. The networks should send the DNC millions of dollars. The 50-state strategy
has given them a lot more exciting news to cover.
