This guy is my favorite writer. He should win a Nobel Prize. -WB

Paul Krugman wins Nobel Prize. GOP accuses facts of having "librul bias."

Renowned Bush-hater, Paul Krugman of the defunct news rag, the New York Times, has won the Nobel Prize for economics, spurring waves of anger from Republicans who have come to despise him for his scathing critiques and adherence to "facts."

"He's a member of the reality-based community" former Bush puppeteer, Karl Rove, derisively sneered, "Sweden, that sounds kind of like old Europe to me anyway."

Bill O'Reilly of the even-handed news organization, Fixed Noise added: "First Al Gore and now this f**ker?" When prodded, Mr. O'Reilly, who was having his lunchtime falafel, managed to put together an effective argument consisting of only the words "Shut" and "Up."

Krugman was recognized for his work in establishing a new theory that helps answer questions regarding the effects of free-trade and globalization. When asked what this honor meant to him, Krugman noted: "I was right, oh yeah and chicks dig Nobel winners."

In other news, or maybe as a response, Republican presidential candidate, John McCain yelled at a cloud.

His running mate, energy expert Sarah Palin could not personally be reached for comment, but her staff reported that she can see Sweden from her house and this made her a Nobel Laureate as well.

1. Yup, they gave the exact same award to Milton Friedman.
I have no respect for the Nobel committee anymore.

6. Milton Friedman actually did very respectable and quanitfiably verifiable work
in economics. This is, regardless, of his overall philosphy (which, like you, I find extremely problematic).

The Nobel Committee rarely gives the prize for macro work anymore--it tends to be some element of micro theory which is quantifiably based and open to rigorous testing and disproval. One of Friedman's biggest contributions was the development of a theory explaining how the supply of money impacted price stability (known as monetetarism). Since then it has been acknowledged by virtually all economists (including, I am sure, Krugman) that his work in this particular area was seminal.
