I AM A HAND WRINGING WEENIE.. And here's why?
Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 09:30 AM by Fluffdaddy
I remember 2004

12 Noon Nov 4th 2004. The usual suspects was running around the forum backslapping each other and doing victory laps after a few exit polls showed Kerry way a head...............Like we already won something

2 weeks ago some idiot here posts who's planning on going to Obama's presidential inauguration...........Like we already won something.

Rules to live by

Never talk to a baseball pitcher about and possibly no hitter.............Before that no hitter is in the book

Never put the champagne on ice before the championship is won

Never count your chickens before they hitches

And NEVER EVER TALK about a Presidential win or landslid BEFORE you have one.

We have not won shit, not even close...........there is 3 weeks left. That's a life time.

And The usual suspects are starting their backslapping and doing victory laps once again.........3 fucking weeks out :wtf:

Those of us that was here 12 Noon Nov 4th 2004 and remember the pain we was feeling 12 hours later know what I'm talking about.

Keep making Donations and volunteer your time. we have not won shit yet............. we are not even close.

Disclamer: please be kind and disregard any grammatical mistakes on my part :)

1. Did you even bother to read my OP? I very explicitly remind the concerned...
that nobody is advocating 'victory laps.'
Sigh.

I'll probably be too exhausted to vote afterwards, but who cares? We're bound to win!

:P

We've already won. The goal now is to make the win MASSIVE. We need to CRUSH THEM FOR ALL ETERNITY.

It's no longer about winning. It's now about an opportunity to put the conservative movement into the dustbin of history with their pals the communists and fascists.

9. I was in America in 2004. I saw the elections.
Barack Obama is not John Kerry. 2004 is not 2008.

WE HAVE ALREADY WON!

What it's all about now is CRUSHING THE PRICKS IN THE GOP!!!

Time to run up the score and make it a fucking blowout!

Now stop wringing your hands and GET TO FUCKING WORK!

no one has a clue as to whether the Bradley effect will manifest itself in this election or how influential it will be if it does come into play. It did NOT manifest itself in the primary.

23. Where's your proof of the so-called Bradley effect being real in 2008
*crickets*

Bradley ran for governor of California TWENTY-SIX YEARS AGO!

Twenty-six years before that, African Americans were getting their heads bashed in for daring to want to vote.

Things change in twenty-six years.

27. Show your proof of a 'Bradley Effect'.
I'll wait. Go on, look for it. It's totally fabricated media bullshit, and you know it.

From Wiki:

Origin

L. Douglas Wilder's margin of victory in the 1989 Virginia gubernatorial election was narrower than predicted by pre-election and exit polls. In 1982, Tom Bradley, the long-time mayor of Los Angeles, California, ran as the Democratic Party's candidate for Governor of California against Republican candidate George Deukmejian, who was white. The polls in the final days before the election consistently showed Bradley with a lead.<7> Based on exit polls, a number of media outlets projected Bradley as the winner; early editions of the next day's San Francisco Chronicle featured a headline proclaiming "Bradley Win Projected." However, Bradley narrowly lost the race. Post-election research indicated that a smaller percentage of white voters actually voted for Bradley than polls had predicted, and that previously "undecided" voters had voted for Deukmejian in statistically anomalous numbers.<3><8>

A month prior to the election, Bill Roberts, Deukmejian's campaign manager, predicted that white voters would break for his candidate. He told reporters that he expected Deukmejian to receive approximately 5 percent more votes than polling numbers indicated because white voters were giving inaccurate polling responses to conceal the appearance of racial prejudice. Deukmejian disavowed Roberts's comments, and Roberts resigned his post as campaign manager.<9>

It should be noted that Bradley did win among voters on election day; Bradley lost the election overall because he lost the absentee vote badly.<10> Also, the daily tracking polls for the Deukmejian campaign showed the following weekly summations (N=1000 each) during the month of October:<10>

Week of Oct07 Oct14 Oct21 Oct28 Nov01

Bradley 49 45 46 45 45
Deukmejian 37 41 41 42 44

It is obvious that the election was closing fast. That, together with the absentee ballots, implies that the "Bradley effect" is not needed to explain Deukmejian's win.

You are fooling no one here.

Lots of 'concern' from you, always.

Lots.

15. Thanks Fluffdaddy
I've been thinking the very same thing.

Get those young voters either to the polls or remind them to fill out their absentee ballot... and get it where it needs to go.
Remind the elderly to vote. There is a whopping number for Obama in my area. Don't discount them.
Provide rides to those who like to go to the polls. (For whatever warped reason). :) In my family three generations will vote the Democratic ticket.
Make sure everyone knows they can vote absentee.
Check the voting procedures in your precinct, county, state. Hound the right people about making sure the votes count and everything is pure and legal.

The ninth inning in a 3-1 ballgame isn't the time to celebrate.

24. I hear you. If too many people start acting like President Obama is
already in the bag, many of them might not turn out to vote thinking that their vote won't be needed. For that landslide to come true, we will need every vote.

26. Stealing America: Vote by Vote -- has excellent footage from election night 2004
It was sad to see those numbers -- Kerry 51 to Bush 48, late at night, in Ohio, while we here at DU were getting reports in from the field about all kinds of Republican shenanigans.

During the wee hours, the vote counts, which agreed with the exit poll data after 11 p.m., changed SIX POINTS -- Kerry down three and Bush up three --- statistically very improbable -- to Bush 51, Kerry 48, and the exit poll data was ADJUSTED ACCORDINGLY so the networks could be comfortable and not troubled by having to report on massive election fraud through multiple methods.

www.stealingamericathemovie.com

It is a very calm documentary. It looks at the data and patterns in 2004 and other recent elections. And examines the COMBINATION OF METHODS Republicans have used to steal recent elections, and compares those to some historical incidents too. The most improbable thing is that the only discrepancies in exit polling vs. vote counts occurred in Democratic precincts. Golly, what a coincidence ! Many times over.

For emergency info on how to get as much of our landslide as we can--

29. I went out and bought a bottle of champagne based on those exit polls
I was going house to house to turn out the vote. One of the people told me that the exit polls showed that Kerry was going to win Ohio. After I finished my list I went straight to the liquor store and bought a nice bottle of champagne for the celebration.

I firmly believe that it was that bottle of champagne which threw Ohio to Bush--well that, not enough voting machines in Democratic precincts and of course Diebold
