10. Polling was incredibly inaccurate in 1936

The big poll that year was done by Readers Digest and it was of their subscribers. Landon won by a comfortable margin. Of course it's not surprising that the people who could afford a magazine subscription in the midst of the Great Depression would be disproportionately Republican.
