The new Republican theme
Coming down the homestretch, they are going to try to paint Obama as Career First, Country Second. It's in the new RNC ad and I've heard it from a couple talking parrots.

Even if you buy into that argument about Obama, which I don't think has any merit at all, the argument is itself laughably nonsensical. It would work to run against Obama for his senate seat, because you could say that he wouldn't be willing to work for Illinois residents and would only be worried about his political career (i.e. presidential aspirations).

But what they are trying to suggest is that Obama wouldn't be a good president because he'd be worried about his career. As if he was going to use the presidency to advance his career - um, where exactly?

4. All they have is re-treads.
I suppose they'll dig out his kindergarten paper again and proclaim "See! All he wanted to be was President". :eyes:

5. MORE projection!
What's next, they accuse Obama of wanting to be president in order to outrank his dad and granddad?

7. where are you getting this information? This can be spun so easily it may as well be cotton candy

OK, Fine! Let's agree with them

Obama is so intent on advancing his career that he was President of the Harvard Law Review, became a state legislator, a Senator and then President.

At that point the way to advance his career is to look to his legacy. The way to have a strong, positive and lasting legacy is to be... A GREAT PRESIDENT!!!!

How fucking stupid are these people? Don't try to answer that, there are no words to properly describe their stupidity.

15. Has to be Rezko
since McKKKlan took Wright off the table and Ayers was an Epic Fail. Of course Rezko is sitting in jail, but they gotta follow the primary's failed playbook because they have nothing else. They seem to think that if they can somehow throw the same discredited poo a different way, they can make it stick!

9. If you realize that they mostly attack with their weaknesses.
If they are selling themselves out by choosing Palin to bring in Hillary and women voters, they say they are Country first.

If they are pedophiles, they work to end pedophilia.

If they are gay, they build a career denying gay rights.

If they are bad parents, they parade their children like props.

If the have no idea how to run a country, they say that life would be easier if they were a dictator.

If they are losing our confidence because they have been caught in one lie after another and one irrational move to another, they paint their opponent as untrustworthy.

It's almost as if you can read their next attack by in what area they are failing.

13. Fun and Games With a McCain Canvaser
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/12/185143/14/911/628630

Here's an excerpt of a post by an Obama supporter who decided to have some fun with a McCain person doing door to door canvasing in his neighborhood. (FYI - McCain's people have mainly been doing phone calls, not door to door canvasing).

"There's a knock on my door. I thought it might be a follow up from the cops, and answered. To my immediate surprise, it was a couple in their late 30's with McCain/Palin buttons. They went through the usual canvasser rap with me, and I decided that after my previous day, I wanted to have some fun. So I played dumb.

"Well, I really haven't made up my mind", says I. "I'm nervous about our economic situation." "Well, you can bet that Barack Obama will raise your taxes." "Really? Because I read on the Tax Policy Center's website that he wouldn't." "Well, people get to say whatever they want on the internet, you shouldn't believe that." "What will John McCain do to lower my taxes?" Silence. Long pause. Then, "Are you comfortable with a President that has ties to domestic terrorism?" (WTF? Where was my answer?) "No, of course not"

I said, "As a matter of fact, I've been thinking about that quite a bit lately." Big grins from the McCainanites. "Did you know that Barack Hussein Obama is a close friend of a domestic terrorist?" They're practically salivating at this point, and we've only been speaking for a few minutes. "Yes" deep breath "I know about Bill Ayers. Can I ask you guys a question?" Puzzled looks. "If Bill Ayers is such a detestable man, why was he allowed to be a member of the Annenberg Foundation?" Their faces darkened, and they muttered incoherently for a minute, and before they could speak, I added, "speaking of domestic terrorists, how's Gordon Liddy these days?"

"So, we'll just put you down as undecided, then."

----

In all seriousness, if you get a phone call from McCain people, I would try to waste their time and tell them you are undecided. They will probably keep calling.
