Meanwhile in Iowa: "My God Is Better Than Your God"
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 04:41 PM by JFN1
This is just getting unreal. Now there is a preacher at a McCain rally in Iowa praying that God protect his " own reputation" by making sure McCain is elected. Seriously, you can't make this stuff up:

Before McCain spoke, a Christian pastor offered a prayer that seemed to ask for divine intervention on his behalf. "There are millions of people around this world praying to their God -- whether it's Hindu, Buddha, Allah -- that McCain's opponent wins for a variety of reasons," Pastor Arnold Conrad said. "And, Lord, I pray that you would guard your own reputation, because they're going to think that their god is bigger than you, if that happens."

That's just sad. Is he worried about God's reputation - or his own? I don't understand. He's asking God to make sure McCain wins the election so that his religion won't suffer? So in other words, you must be a good Christian if you vote for McCain, but if you vote for Obama, you're - what? Hurting God's feelings? Bizarre...

In keeping with their dialed-down attack strategy, the McCain camp said they did not condone the prayer - well, sort of:

"While we understand the important role that faith plays in informing the votes of Iowans, questions about the religious background of the candidates only serve to distract from the real questions in this race about Barack Obama's judgment, policies and readiness to lead as commander in chief," Wendy Riemann, McCain's Iowa spokeswoman, said.

And in a classic Republican move, McCain blames Obama - for McCain's lies, distortion, and mud-slinging:

"Rather than answer his critics, Sen. Obama will try to distract. . . . He has even questioned my truthfulness -- and let me reply in the plainest terms I know: I don't need lessons about telling the truth to the American people." McCain told a crowd of more than 1,000 in Davenport.

So if McCain "doesn't need lessons about telling the truth" does this mean he has his eyes wide open when he lies about Obama, or Palin, or his record?

2. "In every contest, both sides claim God is on their side...
...one must be, but both probably are, wrong."

Abraham Lincoln

Stonewall Jackson had a similar quote that I can't think of off the top of my head.

5. If he believes that his god is the only god then he has nothing to worry about.
Because with the other religions with a god their god doesn't exist.

Otherwise, if he believes that other religions have a god that is not his god then he believes there are more than one god. And the Christian religion does not allow for other gods except their own.
