What we should realize about why the GOP is plummeting into oblivion...
It's not only that they've run out of positive ideas for governance (long ago, and as if they had any for us to consider), it's that they have also run out of ways to fool the American people or trick the election system into going their way.

In short, the GOP has nothing, and the only thing that could make them come back in two years is if the Democratic Party doesn't positively exercise its newly found muscular power in a responsible manner.

The American people want a successful Congress and President, as they want to be successful. The Democratic Party has to be ready to govern as the adults the Bush Regime criminals and fools could never even dream of being.

And we the people have the responsibility to make them do just this. This election on November 4 is not the end of our long struggle. It is merely the end of the beginning.

As I said to many in November 2004, "Democracy doesn't end on Election Day!"

1. I think people realize Republican ideology has failed and they themselves
are repudiating their dogma and adopting Democratic ideas to get us out of this mess.

2. Great post, and Obama really, really needs to understand this.
I think he does, too.

3. They have not run out of ways to fool the election system
Diebold machines are still being used.

Voter registration is still being challenged.

4. But they have run out of _new_ ways to do this... they have just the old ideas left...
and they are being increasingly challenged into oblivion.

6. And
We're all going to challenge whatever votes they do steal, right?

It looks like they will try to steal congress... Obama is almost untouchable. The task to cover fifty states is enormous and perplexing both for us and for them. There are about 455 races they have to manipulate and in so doing they will make mistakes that hopefully we can uncover and make the case to the people so that we get rid of that option once and for all.

5. I think they are astonished that their usual bag of tricks just isn't working.

7. With respect, I think you are wrong.
It's my opinion the RNC is merely a tool of the world's richest people and since they have set up the infrastructure to control the wealth and resources of the entire planet for at least 20 years they just don't need the RNC right now. They pulled McCain's ass out of the ashes and bought off the frontrunners because McCain was a sure loser.

It's not that the GOP is trying and failing - it's that they AREN'T trying because they intended to fail. The elite want the party put to sleep for awhile and in the process they can destroy the widening hold the fundies had on the party. By losing for a couple of cycles they can push the reset button and rebuild the party of Reagan - a party of greedy SOB's who are genuine soulless.

8. I remember this same line of thought after the 1964 election.
The forces that controlled the Republican and
(to a lesser extent) the Democratic Parties,
have infinite wealth and resources to see their
agenda through.
In the past 40 years, I've seen the Democratic
Party move further to the Right and it seems
to me, at times, that the Democratic Party is
nothing more than the "Washington Generals"
to the Republicans "Harlem Globetrotters."
I fear that a Democratic victory in November
will have little more signifcant results than the
midterm election victory of 2006.
