Look at this speech passage by FDR - it's uncanny...
...in that it fits exactly today:

210 - Address at Madison Square Garden, New York City.
October 31, 1936

"We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace — business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.

They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.

Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me—and I welcome their hatred."

1. I hope that those in the Obama administration take a moment to review
some of this history. It will be tough to do because they'll be under the gun to act, but there is so much wisdom and perspective to draw from.

2. I'm sure they will pull the best heads together...

Obama is a scholar, and he will be very prudent and informed, imo.

5. Yeah, I agree. I'm not really concerned that they WOULDN'T, just the
statement cited reminded me that we can learn so much from what went before. :hi:
