Have GOP tactics in this campaign changed your mind about bipartisanship?
Should we still reach across the aisle and compromise with Republicans on key issues and give them key cabinet positions?

Or, conversely, should Obama make every effort to be a progressive transformative President, even if it means continued division and rancor?

Assuming, of course, we keep control of both houses and Obama wins handily. And I realize that there were many folks here who were never much in favor of bipartisanship to begin with.

(disclaimer: I'm not being overconfident. We shouldn't take anything for granted.)

3. Changed my mind? No.
The Nixon crowd did that, and it was confirmed by the Reaganistas.

6. No, but only because I fully expected these tactics
My biggest beef with the Obama movement has always been that it is a concept crafted in a 50-50 world where post-partisan represented a compromise, not a capitulation.

If Obama really doesn't consider Republicans demons then it is a weakness that comes from becoming a senator without going through the House first. (And serving in a Dem state legislature where dealing with pugs was done from a position of strength)

Anyone who has served in the house knows that the pug party is pathological... not a bunch of Dick Lugar, John Warner types.

The Republican party should not be legitimized in any way going forward.

7. No, we can be magnanimous in victory
But we should practice the same sort of "bipartisanship" that Bush did, i.e. making the Republicans do what we tell them to do and embracing the few among them willing to adopt OUR agenda.

8. No change. Always known that bipartisanship with bush's GOP is suicide.

9. I don't care who we work with.
All I want is that we get our economy in shape again. I'd like to start with stabilizing the financial system, including reforms, and then a public works project. I'd really like to see Obama's green project turbocharged. Solar and wind technology will mean production of goods and installation in the US which will keep our $ in this country.

I don't see why Republicans would fight that tooth and nail. Let them have their drilling. If we can do enough alternative energy, all this effort for oil won't be worth it and they'll lose their $ anyway.

10. Bipartisanship is not the goal. Getting things done is the goal.
Bipartisanship is simply one means to that end.
