EXCELLENT analysis of Palin's delusional thinking
re Troopergate is at Andrew Halcro's blog here http://www.andrewhalcro.com/rebranding_troopergate_a_seinfeld_moment

On Saturday, Governor Sarah Palin phoned in from a campaign stop in Pennsylvania to answer questions, limit one per reporter, from the local media.

Before she opened the painfully limited question and answer session, she prefaced her answers by attempting to rebrand what has now become known across the globe as Troopergate.

"It’s good to get to speak with you. Let me talk a little bit about the Tasergate issue if you guys would let me," Palin said according to an audio of the teleconference with reporters.

Tasergate?

Palin's clumsy attempt to try and rebrand the three month independent investigation into allegations she abused the power of her office is reminiscent of the Seinfeld episode where George Costanza tries desperately to rebrand himself as "T-Bone" to his co-workers and ends up being branded "Koko the monkey."

The challenge for Palin attempting this tortured exercise is that the contents of the Branchflower report released on Friday leaves no room for rebranding this investigation; it is truly a "Troopergate" affair.

After reading the 260 page report it is clear that we know things today that dispel all of the excuses offered by the governor and raise serious questions about the pursuit of Trooper Mike Wooten, the Monegan firing and her management of state government.

2. I wonder if Fox, Limbaugh, Beck, etc. will start calling it "Tasergate"
that is, if they refer to it at all.

5. I have been contemplating beginning
a life of denial. It works for the Republicans very well. I will have to shed sympathy, truthfulness, empathy, love and marriage and what else, who knows, to do it.

8. That's what started it all. Her BIL tasered his son, supposedly the son asked him to
but still. So then a family fight ensued and Palin tried to get him fired through Monegan. Monegan ended up getting fired for not firing the BIL. I think I got that right.

Allegedly, the "Rogue Trooper" they wanted fired tased his 10 year-old kid.
At the kid's request. I heard some local right-wing propagandist mention this the other night.

9. Wooten allegedly tasered his son or stepson
at the boy's insistence because he wanted to "see what it felt like." From all accounts, the taser was turned to its lowest possible setting and couldn't have done the kid any harm. This was just one of the allegations that the Palins threw at Wooten.

10. thanks for the answers, I hadn't realized that
So Phailin is using that term to fixate the attention on her BIL's possible misdeeds.

12. That's been her fixation all along.
The problem is she has been unable to separate her private life from her public one. Her argument has been that since Wooten is allegedly a "bad cop," it's her and Todd's responsibility as good citizens to see that he's removed from the force. She doesn't see a problem with the fact that she's not a private citizen anymore and that as a public official she's not allowed to put this kind of pressure on people.

The alleged misdeeds by Trooper Wooten, from my understanding, all occurred before Sarah was governor, and he had been suspended for five days by Monegan's DPS predecessor for his transgressions. The Palins thought the punishment wasn't severe enough and amped up their attempts to get Wooten fired after Sarah became governor. It's obvious she felt because of her position she would have more influence on Wooten's future. I don't know see how she can allege that this isn't an abuse of her power.

It appears that Sarah was trying to destroy his career and eliminate his income so that Molly would have the upper hand in trying to change the custody arrangement. That's just wrong, no matter what the issues were between Wooten and Molly.

11. To add to the story - other family members were present, and before
he was tasered at a low setting, they surrounded the boy with pillows. The BIL said later that in hindsight he shouldn't have done it, but at the time, he said he and other cops went through this in training and on a low setting it wasn't much of anything. Also, the judge accepted the answer the BIL gave, which pissed off the Palins. But from my readings, some family members were there at the time. They didn't stop it, and as far as I know, it wasn't reported immediately either.

Just like the moose kill the BIL did, it wasn't reported until after a year later during divorce proceedings. If you read the Branchflower report, the head cop said he'd have to charge Palin's sister, her father and others for participating in the kill.

These are dysfunctional, bitter and vindictive people - just what we don't need for that proverbial 3am phone call.

13. I just saw a clip of Palin interviewed by a reporter on CNN
Incredibly, she was smiling and crowing that the legislative investigation in Alaska cleared her of BOTH any illegal activity or any unethical behavior. She is the most nonchalant liar I have ever heard.

15. She has chosen to focus on the part
that said that since Monegan was an executive appointee, she was within her authority to remove him at her discretion. She's completely ignoring the part about how she and Todd ILLEGALLY used their position to try to force Mike Wooten from his job. She's very selective that way.
