Even if Obama wins, Sarah Palin is not going away
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 10:09 AM by Joanne98
Having tasted the sweet nectar of power, the woman from Alaska with the insane, maniacal gleam in her eyes is not going away; she's just going to have her eye on 2012, when she figures she can take the White House back for the White People:

With his electoral prospects fading by the day, Senator John McCain has fallen out with his vice-presidential running mate about the direction of his White House campaign.

McCain has become alarmed about the fury unleashed by Sarah Palin, the moose-hunting “pitbull in lipstick”, against Senator Barack Obama. Cries of “terrorist” and “kill him” have accompanied the tirades by the governor of Alaska against the Democratic nominee at Republican rallies.

Palin, 44, has led the character attacks on Obama in the belief that McCain may be throwing away the election and her chance of becoming vice-president. Her supporters think that if the Republican ticket loses on November 4, she should run for president in 2012.

A leading Republican consultant said: “A lot of conservatives are grumbling about what a poor job McCain is doing. They are rolling their eyes and saying, ‘Yes, a miracle could happen, but at this rate it is all over’.

“Sarah Palin is no fool. She sees the same thing and wants to salvage what she can. She is positioning herself for the future. Her best days could be in front of her. She wants to look as though she was the fighter, the person with the spunk who was out there taking it to the Democrats.”

Let's face it, folks: George W. Bush is going to leave one hell of a mess for the next president to clean up. I don't know why anyone is surprised by this, it's just another empty hole he's drilled using other people's money and then moved on. It's the story of his life. But the reality is that an Obama victory next month, while necessary, is not the culmination of anything. It's only the beginning of the fight to keep this nation from returning to the Dark Ages represented by the lunatic Sarah Palin and her Armies of Jehovah. Because you know as sure as we're standing here, that as of November 5, Sarah Palin will be the frontrunner for 2012. And if there isn't significant improvement in people's lives by then, we could be faced with Governor Architect of the Apocalypse ready and waiting to take over and complete her mission to bring about her messiah's return.

Yes. I know this. That's why I believe that Sarah Palin has to be completely destroyed.

But she will still darken our media door ... probably as a consultant to FOX news. :eyes:

I hope that even after they lose, every dirty thing she ever did will still be investigated. I want them burned on the house built for free. I want other people she screwed over to come out of the woodwork to burn her after they stop fearing repercussions when she loses. I want Alaska to recall her.

11. Well, that was the whole plan to begin with. To introduce Palin to her base.
This strategy may have backfired though. I don't think McCain's GOP campaign handlers expected this much "BAGGAGE" to come with Palin. She could very well be damaged goods for the GOP by 2012.

My guess is that by then, she'll be a Fox News political pundit. They'll try to brand her the new female version of Rush Limbaugh.

12. Obama is going to usher in a new era of politics...
When Obama is President, he's going to have the power to put the smack down
on the nasty, vitriolic, Rovian tactics that have plagued this country for
too long.

Obama will demonstrate what it's like to have an adult in the White House.
We've become accustomed to thugs and attack dogs dominating our political
culture. Amazing leaders, like John F Kennedy, seem like a distant memory.

Obama will work with leaders in Congress--who will help end this nightmare.

By the end of Obama's first year--Bush, the neocons and their perverse,
revolting behavior and tactics--will be relics. Their disdain for the
Constitution and their abuse of power will be looked at with complete
disgust.

Palin is part of that group. She can't change that. Her disgusting,
Rovian soundbytes are on record. Her abuse of power and ethics violations
are historical fact. She is damaged goods. She'll be forever viewed
as a part of American history that is shameful and never to be tolerated
again.

Obama will change everything--and Palin will be lucky to have any job
in government. I'll be surprised if she keeps her job as Gov of Alaska.
She may, and if she does--she's not going any higher than that.

that this nincompoop could mount a successful campaign for the presidency on her own.

to get the pug nod, she'd have to either get the pug powers behind her like bush did, or win tons of primaries like mccain did. The former just ain't happening, and despite her popularity among a particular group of disenchanted right wingers, that would not prevail over a lengthy primary season. Her gaffe-a-minute propensity would eclipse her one-trick-pony popularity. She would not last as long as rudy gui911iani or mike huckachristianby.

More likely (at least I hope so), the pugs will be so buried this Nov. that they go the way of the Whig party and something else emerges as the counter to "progressivism," but it will take several election cycles to catch on except in isolated local areas.

edit - after hitting "post" I saw twosparkles response. ditto!

The moderates of the Party were never crazy about her to begin with, and they definently won't like her when/if McCain loses. And let's play with the idea that McCain could lose in a landslide...Palin will always be connected to that.

20. I don't know about that.
We have to assume a lot for Churchy Spice to even get to 2012 as a viable candidate in the primaries. We have to assume that:

1. No real damage will come from Troopergate long-term;
2. She isn't recalled as Governor - not sure if that would happen or not, but I'd love the perspective of the AK folks on this one;
3. She wins reelection as Gov. in the next election. That state seems awfully embarrassed and pissed off at her, so that could be interesting.
4. She doesn't fuck up 876 more times between now and then. Seems as though she's always been a fuck-up moron, but no one was paying attention. The prices she gets to pay for her act right now is increased scrutiny as long as she holds office.
5. That her IQ will suddenly sprout from inside that pea-sized, delusional fundie brain of hers. She's flat-out not smart enough to hang with actual candidates, even relative to other R's.

Not to mention, Obama/Biden have not really had to go after her given their lead and the way McCrap has so completely bungled his campaign. If she comes out for the primaries in 2012, she will be ravaged. She will not be able to avoid the press, and she will not be able to have the debate rules relaxed for her then, so she'll get destroyed in that venue as well.

I'm starting to think that this could be the last we see of this idiot. Even if she somehow emerges as the fundie candidate of choice, I think we'll see in a few weeks that the fundies alone will not win an election - they need the rest of the R's to have any real influence.

Maybe I'm just being hopeful, but I think she's done.

36. Nope!
By 2012 the fundies and right-wing base will be proven to be ignorant lunatics, when all their predictions (too ridiculous to even mention) about Obama will be nothing more than signs of their collective psychosis. Only this group has consistently supported Palin, unlike the more intelligent republicans who have been cringing since she made the scene. They will send her back to Alaska before McCain has finished his concession speech.

She will have an intense and loyal following; however, the Wall Street Republicans will never allow her the top spot on the ticket. She will go back to Alaska, finish out her term as governor, get thumped in the next primary, and then run in 2012 only to lose the primary battle due to a totally inept campaign.

This woman has no sense.

Her rep as a serious candidate must be destroyed, but even then, she will probably remain a loony curiosity, dug out from under a rock to read a bad script or babble incoherently on camera for entertainment value. If we're lucky and get an actual conviction on something, we might not even have to endure that.

45. It took six years to get rid of Katherine Harris. (I kind of miss Moxie and Spunk.)
It may take nearly as long to get rid of Palin. A lot depends on how the economy is doing in 2012. And everything depends on what happens to Palin in Alaska in the next four years. Impeachment and removal or an indictment would end her career pretty quickly. But if she is re-elected in Alaska it probably will take until 2012 to get rid of her for the following reasons.

First, Shadow Governor Dude is going to want to go after all that money and power. Palin is his property.

Second, the Reich wing theo-con part of the republican base always hated McCain and will blame him for the GOP implosion this year. Plus, they are too stupid to realize that Palin was a drag on the ticket. That is one segment of the republican base which will support Palin in 2012.

Third, the Reich wing neo-con part of the republican base likely will see Palin as easily manipulated and forced to do their bidding. They will calculate that the theo-cons will support Palin and that that support is essential to a republican victory. So that is another segment of the republican base which will support Palin in 2012.

Fourth, the suburban country club eco-con part of the republican base will be disgusted with Palin and will not support her in the primaries but probably will in the general. But if the economy is doing well in 2012 many of these republicans might support President Obama.

One other variable which could affect Palin's success in running for the GOP nomination in 2012 will be if the state republican parties eliminate the winner take all primary rules. Under those rules, Palin could win a lot of delegates in winner take all states with only a small plurality of the votes, especially in the South and Mid-Western plains states.

As of right now, I would love to see Palin run against President Obama in 2012.
