McCain graduated 894th out of 899 candidates in the U.S. Naval Academy. That's something to be proud of, right?

1. If you didn't have the skills to be there in the first place it might be :)

15. Just trying to build a meme
McCain knows the college transcripts aren't a winner for him, but it does tie into the constant refrain of "Who is Obama". They don't care if the transcripts come out--if they can get anyone talking about it, it reinforces the notion that we know too little about him. It is desperate.

2. Why on earth would McCain want to open that door?
What could they possibly hope to "expose" from O's college records?

Just more of "anything but the economy" strategy. Bait and switch, as O says.

3. What the heck are they going to find there?
That Obama was a good student, got good grades, went on to Harvard on his own merit and excelled there to?

Making fun of the guy because he's smart plays to the base, sure, but nothing that's going to damage him with normal rational people.

5. Is it true that only the highest ranked law student
becomes the president of the Law Review? Wasn't Barack Obama president of the HARVARD Law Review? Isn't Harvard recognized as a difficult school (George W's appearance as an MBA student not withstanding of course).

Senator Obama also attended Columbia University, not exactly community college (not slighting community colleges at all, just recognizing that the course work at Columbia is likely to be a tad more difficult than that offered at some community colleges). If he didn't do well at Columbia, I doubt he'd have gotten into Harvard Law School.

I'm sure Barack Obama was more than a C student at Columbia.

7. Thanks for that information.
I suspect, though, that Harvard Law Students would not select as the president of the Law Review one who say was fourth from the bottom of the class? Sure Obama has charisma but he's also SMART, a quality that most sane people admire.

9. Absolutely!
Most law reviews are made up of people who either had the top grades in their class or submitted the best articles in a writing competition. Those people chose Barack Obama to be president of their law review.

I cannot believe that McCain really wants to go there...

10. I believe that at the time, you had to have a strong GPA to get on law review in the first
place. Something like top 10% or 20% of the 1st year class. Now they have a "write on" competition where the best legal writers in the class are selected for law review, but back when Obama was there I think a high GPA was required.

Once he made it on to law review, he was elected by his fellow law review members as president of the review.

11. That's the bottom 10% of the bottom 10%
So if you select a group of the dumbest people there, McCain was the dumbest person in that group.

13. Including the D in macroeconomics. I wonder how bad her other grades were?
I can't believe McCain & company would go there. Obama used to get up before the Marines to study with his mom.
