Dear John McCain......(letters from DU)

Dear Senator McCain.

Although we disagree on many issues I just cannot take the racist turn that your and Governor Palin's campaign has taken over the last couple of weeks.

From your supporters yelling "Kill Him","Terrorist" to a man allowed into a Palin event with a Monkey doll wearing an Obama sticker, your campaign and that of Gov Palin's has taken on a very disturbing tone. And you, nor your campaign, nor Gov Palin, have done anything to stop it. In fact, until Friday, it seems as if you and Gov Palin have encouraged it.

Then, when you have been called out on this by a African American civil rights leader, (but not when white reporters/columnists, congresspersons, former supporters have said exactly the same thing earlier) you demand that Senator Obama repudiate those comments. Sorry if you feel hurt by these comments but they are on spot. Your campaign, and especially that of Gov Palin, have taken on a tone not seen since the sixties. Both of your campaigns should be ashamed of themselves to allow this to go on for weeks without any comments from you.

I once thought of you as a respectable man of honor, but seeing this go one day after day, event after event,without repudiation by yourself or Gov Palin, I cannot believe that you are the same man that I once held in such high regard.
