Did any of the naysayers HEAR the Kerry Ohio response?
If so , what the hell is wrong with you people? The speech was magnificent! I had tears rolling down my face.Kerry showed all the warmth and charisma they say he doesn't have. He is going to win this if everyone just stops moaning.I hope no one thought that Georgie's speech was in any way comparable? And BTW, in case anyone thinks I am a Pollyanna about the campaign, I am an acting coach and have always been one of Kerry's harshest critics about his speaking style. He has been erratic but boy in the last couple of speeches, he has shown us what he can do. I say it again, the Ohio speech was magnificent! (and he was better than Edwards!)

1. I expect that a more than representative number of them...
Missed the Kerry speech. They were too busy trading tips on enriching each other's auto-fellatio experiences, over on FreepyLand.

3. Yes, that speech was good
I think the question is why Kerry hasn't been doing that all along. Cheney's 5 deferrments and Bush lying about Iraq weren't things we just found out about yesterday.

Now when's he going after the Swift Boat Liars?

5. The answer is
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 08:55 PM by Feanorcurufinwe
that Kerry is a seasoned politician, experienced at difficult campaigns where he is the target of negative attacks, with a sense of political timing you don't learn any other way.

We saw during the primaries that ALWAYS coming out with the strongest rhetoric and NEVER pulling your punches just doesn't work as well as Kerry's approach.

9. Because he was reigned in by the politics as usual crowd.

Two years ago in Phoenix, he gave a fantastic speech and I thought he just oozed charisima. I remember he refused to use the podium and perferred to roam about the room. After that speech, except for a glimpse at the convention, I never saw that Kerry again until last night.Anybody notice, he left the podium. He has often stated that he is more comfortable"roamin". You would think they would have cut him loose before now. I actually talked to some of these numbskulls about this and they felt roaming was inappropriate.Well so is a candidate who can't deliver because they give him lockjaw!
I think he has taken the reigns himself at this point ,and I think you will shortly see the 1971 Kerry reemerge! Let us pray they televise it when he does!

4. Which speech are you talking about?
The speech last night after the convention, or a speech on the trail from today?

6. It was not aggressive enough
Yes he had a few good lines. But like every time, he and Edwards failed to refute all the lies and distortions of the Rep. I don't understand. We already have great journalists of prestigious newspapers like Washingtonpost and NYtimes exposed every and single distortions of the Bush campaign. But most working people don't read newspapers. They watch more Sex and City than Meet the Press. So Kerry just needs to reiterate what those columnists already dug up and hit back hard on every charge GOP threw at him. Only then can we bounce back. Mary, the Catholic girl is no match to the nasty Karl Rove.

17. Baloney.
He countered their attack on his record and refused to be hammered by the chickenhawks who"refused" to serve. And he was warm and charming, which gets more marks than the anger of a Zell Miller.Kerry remembered to smile while knifing them which is the most important lesson of all.

7. I agree that it was an awesome speech. Just what the doctor
ordered. And yes, he was better than Edwards, which, coming from me, big Edwards supporter, is sayin a lot.

10. No. I was asleep, as was most of the country. Who do you think heard,
besides a few news people and a few Democrats? What did he expect for a midnight speech? I guess he expected some choice phrases to be on the morning news. And they were. A couple. Maybe not choice. But I heard a couple of lines and that's all.

Me? I'm staying optimistic but part of the GOP campaign is to beat us down until we think it's hopeless and wont vote. Not here, no sir. I have a child that i want growing up not in Bushworld, i also like air, water and trees and the only way to keep those things is by voting For Kerry.

16. thunder is hard to steal
Kerry tried to steal some thunder from Bush, but instead, Hurricane Frances out-thundered them both. Bad timing on Kerry's part, though, with or without the hurricane.

20. oh, guys...
Come on...he gave the best speech of the campaign so far, 30 minutes after * finished his oozefest. For those of us who were watching, it was beautiful, and for the majority who weren't...what the hell are you going to do? This is a serious question. What do we (Democrats, Kerry supporters, liberals, whatever) DO to reach the average person who's been trained to think in soundbites?
What more can we do but this: the debates are ahead of us. Is * going to be able to hide behind 9/11 the entire time? Will the questioners let him get away with that? I don't know, but I have to trust not. I have to trust that there's still that much integrity in the electoral process.

21. When Kerry speaks
I can tell that he is a man of passion. He puts his heart and soul into what he says.

When Bush speaks, I can tell he's a man that doesn't know what the hell he's saying. Probably because he's doing what he's told to do.
