It's time for the Great Schlep--an occasion to visit your Jewish grandparents in Florida and talk to them about Obama. I don't have grandparents in Florida, but I do have a father in-law who's--well, he's a racist. But he also agrees with Obama's positions and has a keen sense of fairness, so I think I can sweet talk him into a vote. If you have elderly relatives, friends, or neighbors in your lives who are maybe a little bit frightened of voting for a black man, go talk to them this weekend. Talk to them about how Obama will make their lives better and more secure, talk to them of Obama's grandmothers, his children, tell them what a smart young man he is, just talk to them. No one involved has to be Jewish or in Florida.

I plan to bake my father in-law a pie. I'm not at all above buying votes.
