I can't imagine that he would be held in very good regard by anyone on either side of the aisle after the disgusting campaign he's subjected the American people to, and the disdain and negativeness he has caused the entire Republican party. His days of public office are over come Nov. 5 in my opinion.

1. He will hold onto it if possible...
He has no sense of decorum or class, and he will hang onto it. I hope he's treated like the pariah he has become.

I beleive the man is in extremely poor health. He won't resign, but sadly eh will not serve out his last two years.

12. My thought exactly.
In this race he's just a frontman for Palin, who is the tool they REALLY want to use.

15. What political capital Palin had will be all gone by this time in two years if not sooner.
It won't be much of a resume having only served on a city council then as Mayor.
And then as a Governor for just one term after losing re-election.

20. That's why they're trying to sneak her in under McCain's wing.
He's elected - he kicks off after 18 months - she becomes prez - and they've got their theocracy. I agree, if the election is not stolen for McCain she will be a footnote in two years. But if he DOES gain the office (note, I did not say 'win') she is going to be the greatest danger this country has faced since WW2.

24. She's not going to lose re-election
You can't lose an election you can't run in.

She's going to be impeached.

If he does last until the end of his term, he'll retire.

but I hope he does. If not, I guess he'll be eating lunch with lieberman and graham in the corner of the Senate dining room.

6. He will end up having a stroke or get parkinson's disease
in the next couple of years. He will whither away in obscurity, like a sad, old birthday card, end up in the trash.

Who gives a fuck...

10. how would his replacement be named?
If the governor (Janet Napolitano) would get to name his replacement, he's not going to resign. Acually, I don't see him resigning no matter what.

11. I don't see how he shows his face in public at this point...
His desire to win has outweighed everything else, and I think most (rational) people have lost all respect for the little goon.

He's never turned down a taxpayer dollar in his life, but whether he'll be bothered to go to DC, it's doubtful.

19. I think he will pretend that golly, "that was all just politics"
I have heard others say that when some Democrats have crossed the lines of decency to smear very appealing Democratic opponents during a campaign, return to the fold as though que sera sera, that was all just politics, and their fans have excused them. Many of their fans just said, well, you do what you gotta do.

I think there is a line that one doesn't cross. Senator Obama has not crossed that line. He fights on the issues, and that is all he ever wanted-- a vigorous fight on the issues. Come on, Senator McBush, defend that deregulation and privatization you've been pushing in support of the Bush regime. Bring that on.

But the other guy knows he's lost on the issue, so somehow we let him lie through his teeth and incite the crowds and just cover it as if the kitchen sink strategy were just part of a TV reality game show strategy. We let the McLame team do the ugly stuff and just report that they are doing it and circulate editorials against it, but hey, that's the "kitchen sink strategy" -- just part of the sport of politics.

Only HATRED is not a very healthy sport in a nation brimming with guns.

23. If John McCain had the integrity
to fall on his sword, figuratively speaking, for the way he has run this campaign, he wouldn't be running it this way in the first place.

30. Serve, run again in '10, and hopefully finally get his ass beat..
As I've said on another thread, I'm in AZ and I pledge that if this fool runs again, I will hop aboard the campaign of whoever opposes him and do all I can to help him or her win. I'm embarassed he's 'representing' (though he hasn't done a damn thing for..) my state and want him the hell out.

AZ is going more and more blue. The ONLY reason he'll still take AZ in this election (IF he does..I'm still hoping he won't..) is the home state advantage, but I think his "moderate"/"maverick" reputation is, by his own making, progressively being destroyed and it'll end up hurting him with the voters here (there are a TON of independents..), whether it's in '10 or, I still hope, in this GE. AZ could very well go blue in the '12 election, though...but hopefully this time, MAN I hope (though we don't NEED it to win) so...(it's a pride thing. ;)).
