How can McSame lead the country when he can't lead his own campaign?
Gov. Milliken of Michigan: "I don't know this John McCain."

I respect Gov. Milliken. He was the last of the moderate republicans in Michigan and has always kept a level head as well as spoken out for innate fairness. So when I heard that he had rescinded his endorsement of mcsame I started to think about what was really going on in the mcsame camp.

McPOW no longer runs that campaign. If he did, we'd be hearing about what a hero he is, but we're not. We'd be hearing about his bipartisan record, but we're not. We'd be hearing a ton of the self-congratulatory rhetoric that only an egomaniac like mcsame could offer up with a straight face, but we're not.

Instead we're hearing the the ghost of the unreformed Lee Atwater as voiced through the minions of Karl Rove. We're hearing lies and smears, innuendo and distortion, hatred and venality.

Barack Obama is not running against John McCain any longer, he is running against Steve Schmidt, Rove's chief understudy.

John McCain would never have chosen sarah palin, himself, because it wasn't good strategy and doesn't make him look better. The second rule of VP picks is to never choose someone more interesting than yourself. She was the choice of the rovian in charge who needed a more willing accomplice than McCain for spreading his message of fear and loathing and McCain acquiesced only because of his tanking poll numbers.

But after the convention bounce those number went south again and mcsame was again frightened. I think his ego had to battle with his ambition. Sadly, his ambition won and now he is destroying the remnants of his legacy stirring up racial hatred and instigating violence against his political opponent at the command of his latter day Rasputin.

John McCain has now become john mcRove. He has abandoned all decency for the chance to taste the greatest power on Earth. Much like bush*, history will judge mcRove as one of the worst people to ever come so close to becoming president.

His legacy is in ruins and he is far too old to ever have the chance to redeem himself. He will forever be known as the man who almost gave sarah palin the white house and he will be reviled.

1. This is very true.
Fortunately for us, Schmidt is not as effective as Rove, who was at least a smart guy who really understood the issues and human psychology. Schmidt seems to think he can win this election through sheer nastiness alone.

If we could be 100% assured a fair election, I wouldn't be at all worried about this approach.
