Recommend If You Don't Give a Crap About Sarah Palin's SAT Scores
And if you understand that our nominee, Barack Obama, is running against John McCain.

pretty fucking dim. Fits the narrative very nicely.

Paul Wellstone scored under 800, fx.

In this case though, it does complete a picture.

Otherwise, we should be worried about the economy and making sure Barack Obama gets elected so that he can begin fixing it.

13. What, Me Worry? about the SAT scores of someone who could become President?
I think her SAT scores are relevant. Obama is running against both McCain and his potential fill-in as President in case something should happen to him. Even if McCain were only half as bad as he is, there'd be the prospect of a Palin presidency if McCain won. I'd never get a good night's sleep knowing Palin's finger is within reach of the nuclear button and her End Times dreams.

She scares the crap out of me, frankly. She is crazy and stupid as hell, just the kind of Republican that seems to get elected these days.

Likewise, the fact that Obama was the Editor of his Hardvard Law Review is pretty goddamned relevant-- to me. I want the SMARTEST guy/gal in the room to be MY president.

in any way with the top of our ticket. She gets tons of media attention, she's the reason most of the GOP base is even remotely interested in this election--but the realization that there's only mush between her ears dropped McStupid's poll numbers--why not add a little more juice to that? If the GOP had something good on Biden, they wouldn't hesitate to use it.

31. Obama's running against Palin. McCain won't last. You've heard of "Big Brother."
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 12:02 PM by petgoat
When McCain's gone, what will Palin's role be?

Naomi Wolf points out that stylist consistencies suggest
that Palin is a designated Bushcist and McCain is an outsider,
and suggests that with McCain out of the way, Palin will
appoint a strongman Vice President as CEO of the USA, and
she'll spend her time traveling around doing talk shows to
explain to America why we need a fascist theocracy and we
needn't worry about arcane stuff like rights and Constitutional
impediments to expedience.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/naomi-wolf/the-battle-plan-ii-sarah_b_128393.html

It's easy to imagine that Palin won't exactly be the President, but
will humbly acknowledge she is not equipped for the role. In reforming
the command structure to de-emphasize the Presidency, she will echo
what a famous politician did in Europe in the 1930s when an honored
elder statesman died. Rather than ascend to the Presidency himself,
this leader created a new office for himself and the office of the
Presidency was declared dormant.

Just as Americans seem unable to recognize fascism unless it wears
funny mustaches and <i>speeks mit ze funny accent</i>, they will be
unable to recognize Big Brother when he comes in the form of a woman.

Palin won't be "Big Sister," exactly, nor "Big Momma."

"Big MILF" is something brand new. It's racy, it's alluring. It's
Paris Hilton and George Bush rolled into one. Welcome to the Brave
New World, America!

Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 12:01 PM by petgoat
Even if it's true that somebody has been messing with her daughter's
letters from summer camp, it's extremely poor politics to discuss
stuff like that in public. It's divisive. Wolf admirers will seize
on this evidence of evil conspiracies, while most Americans will use
it as an excuse to reject her ideas. "Nobody's messing with my mail,
therefore nobody's messing with hers and she's a nutcase."

We see this kind of self-sabotage in the 9/11 Truth movement far
too often.

47. That's a bad generalization
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 01:03 PM by Captiosus
This will sound egotistical, but I'm proof that your statement is just a generalization.

My SAT scores in 1994: 860 combined (450 verbal, 410 math)
Final HS Graduation GPA: 3.28.
My IQ, tested via the WAIS-III exam in 2002 when I was seeing a psychotherapist: 132.

There's some folks out there, like myself, who hate standardized testing and do terrible on them even though they could do much better. I don't think the SAT really promotes critical thought. Critical thought can't be measured by an exam that gives you A, B, C, or D multiple choice questions.

making fun of a candidate's intelligence doesn't necessarily go over very well with swing voters. A lot of them are pretty normal folks and they might even see a poor SAT score as proof that Palin is "one of them." This political strategy worked for George W. Bush.

26. I pretty much discount anything a candidate did up till they were about 25
(provided their life since has shown evolution).

I don't care about anything Sarah Palin did when she was a teen or her early 20s. I do cite her getting pregnant before she married Todd (which happened in their mid-20s, I believe) only because it seems to run in that "abstinence-only" family. I don't care about her SATs ... I care about the lying, hypocritical, neocon creep she is today.

It's easy to be silly, unfocused, drippy, boozy, druggy and stupid when you're young. For many people, that's the only chance you get to be silly, unfocused, drippy, boozy, druggy and stupid -- because you have to start being responsible by your mid-20s.

Like Barack Obama ... he admits he was unfocused, didn't care much about school, tried drugs etc. when he was a teenager.

But he has spent his life since then working to build a life for his family, dedicate himself to public service and work for the future of this country.

If McCain had stopped being an ass after his low grades, womanizing, gambling, boozing and crashing a few planes right out of the Naval academy, I'd admire him, too. But he didn't ... he becomes more of an ass every week!

35. I'm Sure, But She's Not Running For President Right Now
Republicans run their campaigns based almost entirely on marketing strategies that were disseminated to media in the 1980s.

One of the tricks is to make a target of someone VERY huge and successful and repeatedly pick at them until they acknowledge you. If they fall into the trap, YOU win.

The Obama team will do better to thump McCain for choosing Palin as his running mate than they will if they attack her, directly.

44. As I said on the other thread, I only scored a 900 on my SAT's in 1973
And I still only have a high school diploma and a trade certificate in Travel and Tourism. I have an average IQ of 115, but I feel I can hold my own with almost anyone discussing any subject.

The biggest dif? Sarah isn't so much stupid as TOTALLY INCURIOUS. Anyone who buys that fundie crap fairy tale without question is a more dangerous person in power than her downs syndrome (grand) son!

I scored low on SAT and got hideous grades in school because I was a pissed off, sarcastic, adolescent girl who felt that the adults I had trusted so blindly had betrayed me. They had destroyed my environment, gotten my country involved in an illegal war where innocent people and young Americans were being murdered and traumatised for life, they had elected a shit-head, secretive, paranoid scumbag for president who was committing God-knows what treasonous acts--and there was NO WAY I was gonna respect anyone over 30 or do homework or go to their stupid colleges, cuz MY generation was gonna change the world and make it perfect....

Okay, not to belabour the point. But what I'm trying to say is there's PLENTY out there with which to nail Sarah to the wall. We don't need to use 27 year old SAT scores when we can find shit on her from last week!

Especially since some of us (me) can't exactly point fingers over it!

I have scored hopelessly average (to a little above average) on most aptitude exams, yet I graduated in the upper 5% of my graduating class at ASU.

I suggest that if you're gifted to be "well within the fat part of the bell curve" with regard to IQ, it's CLEARLY persistence and determination ... with a side of luck that are the all powerful determinants of success.

IMO, Sarah Palin, like George W. Bush, are *intellectually incurious.* That's what makes them both seemingly ignorant. They have the mental capability but not the will. :(

After a stint in the Army, I went on to attend SDSU and earn a masters degree. However, I have to admit that before attending ASU and SDSU, I enrolled in University of Nebraska at Lincoln for a year. No, I didn't attend as many universities as Sarah Palin, but will admit to being a person of average intellect who works to maintain intellectual curiosity. :-)

BTW Go Big Red! Win or lose, I love the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

p.s. I'm not ashamed to believe that I want my President to be smarter than me, i.e., high aptitude scores on both the SAT and GRE. For a President having to tackle many challenges at once, a less than STELLAR IQ is a non-starter.

61. Seriously... WTF? Her SAT scores are totally relevant...
especially since I have not seen much regarding her other academic performances.

Shite, most children I know blow her pre-college scores out of the water!

Forgive me, but she is a dumb ass!

62. Considering I've been all over news sites today and this is the first I've heard of it,

63. Sheesh. The SAT is like 3rd grade level material....
Even TALKING about SAT scores, rather than GRE scores makes me want to claw my eyes out.
