Defending Dignity: What needs to be done in response to the Mccain/Palin rallies of hate
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 09:52 AM by Essene
From Joe Lieberman to Rush to Hannity... people need to get out their cameras... and go i-Reporter paparazzi on these jerks. Get in their faces... confront them POLITELY & respectfully... post the videos and share.

QUESTION: Senator Lieberman, do you support the tone of the Mccain campaign in terms of the hate speech at his rallies and the specific negative ads running about Obama being tied to Terrorism?

If they won't answer:

QUESTION: How will you feel when people take your silence to be your condoning what's happening and condoning what might perhaps incite violence?

Do not say anything more than to just ask them the question. DO NOT MENTION RACE.

(that is really important, we must not let this become about race)

The Mccain supporters and the Pundits need to PERSONALLY be challenged to show moral spines.

2. How about "Stop the Hate" prayer vigils? Would be sure to attract attention.

3. I think we oughta pressure more Republicans to speak out
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 09:55 AM by Essene
Many republicans are disgusted by this, and they need to be called to speak out.

Some pundits are already speaking out but a lot more need to.

This is the ideal way to respond, pushing REPUBLICANS to disown this hate and smearing.

Sorry, but i dont think vigils really are the solution... although they will help among folks getting burnt out by this depressing stuff.

5. But that requires Repugs to participate. Prayer vigils do not.
Imagine groups of people with candles praying for McPalin to stop whipping up hatred and racism.

Guaranteed news coverage.

6. GOP are already speaking out... and the rest need to be put on camera for history to evaluate
They know this is wrong.

Force them to go on the record about it.

7. I agree it should be done--just not that it's the optimal tactic.

4. That would be a good post-rally atonement

It would be remarkable if people of good will gathered at the sites of Palin hatefests several hours later in order to heal the harm done.

8. a mild risk of violence must be considered, of course
everybody participating would need to be 100% aware of the risks of getting pulled into tensions over race or other non-sense from hatefest people.

11. And the political consequences of that would be.....?

Gandhi wasn't trying to avoid being beat up, you know.

10. That is a GREAT idea! Prayer vigil to heal the country and stop the hate.
It would 1) Show that Dems. love their country enough to pray for it; 2)Send good spiritual energy out into the universe 3) Make freeper heads explode.

9. Rush and Hannity
Don't bother with these two. Seriously. Lieberman I wouldn't bother with either because he switched sides.

12. Excellent post, thank you.
I truly am frightened for Barack's safety as the insane rhetoric against him grows more vicious; McCain's behavior is a national disgrace.
