Texas is OBAMA COUNTRY!!!
At least my street in San Antonio is. Sixteen yard signs for Obama in a three block stretch. NO SIGNS AT ALL FOR MCLAME AND FAILIN. Pics at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gruenemann/sets/72157607910318023/

24. Rowlett Texas...
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 10:27 AM by FloriTexan
In my little neighborhood Obama signs are at 8, McCain 1. Fingers Crossed!

Edited to add 1 Poster in a front window and announce that the sole Ron Paul sign is gone too.

I would not be surprised if Dallas County went Blue again as it did in the last election.

30. If Texas' 34 go to Obama, he'll be in landslide territory
Those 34 EVs are the biggest block of normally reliable Republican EVs. Watching them go Democratic would be historic.

Hubert Humphrey won Texas in 1968
Jimmy Carter won Texas in 1976
NO ONE'S done it since then

31. Carter needed Texas and the whole southern bloc
because Ford won California--he'd have been screwed.

12. It's very cool...
I've driven through all the streets between Jupiter/Shiloh and 14th Street North to Parker... :)

If you go down Park past Jupiter you'll see a huge McSame/Failin sign...( the people who had Huckabee signs before  )

Three houses down a HUGE Obama/Biden sign :)

My Obama sign is proudly displayed in the yard on my corner lot :hi:

I can't even remember where exactly, it was over a decade ago. But I know 14th street was just a bit to my east.

Parker and Alma area.
What's missing in this area that was around in 2000/2004? Those huge obnoxious fence signs along Parker. And sure as hell NO McCain bumper stickers. I've seen 2 this year. You wouldn't even know the repukes have someone running.

Hey, how bad is it for local repukes if *Sam Johnson* feels a need to run a campaign ad? The county has gone 70-30 repuke for years and he just ran an ad just now on our MSNBC channel?? TX may not go blue but I bet we have our local repukes shaking in their boots?

He'll need to carry Austin and San Antonio by overwhelming margins while comfortably taking Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. Additionally, he'll McLame to not run Stalinist or Saddamite majorities in rural Texas.

8. Obama will take all the urban counties.
Trust.

El Paso, Tarrant County, Dallas County, Harris County, Bexar County, Travis County, the valley counties, the border with Louisiana and good ol' rural Robertson County, always blue in a sea of red.

I'm not so sure about Lubbock.

That is HUGE since that is where the Bush family is rumored to be moving (they lived there before he was Governor).

going to be happy with the returns from this state regardless. It's going to be getting too close for comfort for them.

16. The latest issue of New Yorker
has a great article on Texas, specifically Bush's "hometown" of Crawford. One old farmer said now you "have to drive pretty far to find a Republican".

Oh, if only........

33. I drive down a mile or two of a "country club" street on my way to work,
which in the past has been wall-to-wall Repug signs. There are *three* McCain/Palin signs total. A few more houses have a sign for our Repug House candidate *only*. Several have signs for our Dem House candidate. No one has been brave enough to put up an Obama sign yet, but I expect one any day.
