Anger Is Crowd's Overarching Emotion at McCain Rally - Washington Post !
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/10/09/AR2008100903169.html

WAUKESHA, Wis., Oct. 9 -- There were shouts of "Nobama" and "Socialist" at the mention of the Democratic presidential nominee. There were boos, middle fingers turned up and thumbs turned down as a media caravan moved through the crowd Thursday for a midday town hall gathering featuring John McCain and Sarah Palin.

"It is absolutely vital that you take it to Obama, that you hit him where it hits, there's a soft spot," said James T. Harris, a local radio talk show host, who urged the Republican nominee to use Barack Obama's controversial former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., and others against him.

"We have the good Reverend Wright. We have Pfleger. We have all of these shady characters that have surrounded him," Harris bellowed. "We have corruption here in Wisconsin and voting across the nation. I am begging you, sir. I am begging you. Take it to him."

The crowd of thousands roared its approval.

In recent days, a campaign that embraced the mantra of "Country First" but is flagging in the polls and scrambling for a way to close the gap as the nation's economy slides into shambles has found itself at the center of an outpouring of raw emotion rare in a presidential race

1. they've really gone too far.
Off the tracks. Out of control.

McCain isn't serious, doesn't mean what he says about Obama--as an elite, he knows what's really true. But the rabble take what he and Palin say as serious as hell.

McNasty has a tiger by the tail.

3. What the hell is he talking about?

"The same people that are now claiming credit for this rescue are the same ones that were willing co-conspirators in causing this problem that it is," he said, raising his voice to be heard over the crowd. "You know their names. You will know more of their names."

You mean the footsoldiers in the Reagan Revolution, the people who are fundamentally deregulators, Senator McCain?

4. He means himself, and people like him.
He claims credit for the solution, and was integral in causing the problem along with his fellow Reaganites.

Oh, wait, I just assumed my opponents are rational and logical, didn't I? I keep doing that.

They probably mean to imply the co-conspirators are Democrats, liberals, socialists, populists, and other people who protect the middle class.

Don't try to rationalize it, you might break your ability to think logically, and then you'd be like them.

6. If anger is the ruler of his rallies, he's done
Anger is going to only help him retain the extremists and straight partisans on his side, it's unlikely to help him with those independent voters he so desperately needs. Bob Dole learned that lesson back in 1996.

Here is mine:

Dear _________

We have become very concerned about the tone that has been taking place at the McCain/Palin Rallies.

We believe they are engaging in stirring up the crowd into a frenzy of HATE. People in the crowd call out "Kill Him" about senator Obama, or Terrorist. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE! Yet we have seen it for 4 days, go on.

We believe it is very dangerous for our already fragile society. Nerves are raw with the election and the financial meltdown.

Palin and McCain resort to visions attacks on Senator Obama's character. The crowds react in a MOP mentality of HATE.

We believe they need to be CENSURED!

Someone must stop this behavior or we will be having RIOTS or a Civil War.

Please speak with the appropriate authorities.

If we can not live in a CIVIL society, what is left for us?

We are a nation of Laws! Hate Crimes are AGAINST the law.

Thank you,

XXXXX

10. They've lost.
It's all over. These people are mad but their anger is displaced. They know everything McCain is saying is a lie but they're such partisan schmucks that they work themselves into a frenzy over it. They're like rabid football fans rooting for the home team. When they lose they'll turn on them and blame them for everything.
