EJECT EJECT EJECT! How long till McCain pulls out of FLORIDA like he did in Michigan?
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 08:40 PM by ddeclue

Just saw a poll that someone cited on DU that puts Obama up 52-44 (that's 8 points) and both the Tampa Tribune and St. Pete Times are saying terrible things about McCranky. Obama's lead is actually WIDENING here no doubt due to the recent financial crisis, McCain's poor debate performances and his cluelessness on the economy.

Add to that Obama has been running some really blistering ads down here saying things like: Thank goodness you didn't let Bush and McCain privatize Social Security and John McCain is out of ideas, doesn't have anything but smears and is running out of time, etc.

The Social Security ad has just got to be destroying McCranky in South Florida and in "The Villages" and elsewhere around Florida which has the highest number of retirees of any state in the nation except possibly California.

Obama OUGHT to take that ad out to McCranky's home state of Arizona which ALSO has a lot of retirees and run it there just for spite because it will get a lot of old folks in John's own state out to vote against him.

Do you think McCain is going to go to the bitter end in Florida or will he pull out to try to recover somewhere else like Missouri, Ohio or Virginia?

snip-

At a lunchtime rally outside the county courthouse, about 50 Republican office holders gathered to support one another and pledge to fight on despite McCain’s decision to pull out of Michigan and focus on other states.

I live here and, hopefully, just got my last piece of "reaching across party lines" mail today.

Cheers!

it with you again. Hello...I live here. We were getting, on average, 3-7 robo calls from McCain for weeks. Since his announcement? None. I'll keep you posted. Local channels are no longer running McCain ads. I'll keep you posted. If you wish to believe he is still here I can't stop you. Come take a look for yourself. I even have an extra bedroom I'll loan ya. This is his last week here.

There was a post on DU for that a while back. So he's almost escaped out of VA. He only has hope really in Ohio...I don't think he has much to wish for in regards to MO.

11. He won't leave Florida. It's a must-win for him. Michigan wasn't.
If McCain loses Florida's 27 EVs, he's lost the election. Plain and simple. It's incontrovertible--there's about a .001% chance he could shave off a blue state with that much heft elsewhere.

23. If he pulls out of Florida, he might as well just withdraw from the race...
As it stands right now, the only way for McCain to win is to somehow capture each and every "toss-up" state on the map. If he concedes Florida, he could win every single remaining contested state (including Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, and Colorado), and Obama would still get more than the required 270 EV to win.

If McCain pulls out of Florida (or any of those states I mentioned above), it's "game over."

33. Just A Comment From One Who Lives In The 2nd Most Red County In
Florida!! Obama has field workers down here from all over! I've worked with three of them lately, one last week from Portland, Oregon, one from Massachusetts, and one that I can't remember where he's from. But there are even more, right here in THIS County!

Canvassing in the county has always been a horrendous experience for me, but last week-end I got blown away. Of all the doors we knocked on, ONE definite McCain, ONE wouldn't talk to us AND we flipped THREE! All the others were for Obama, and we even registered five or six, FOR OBAMA! Of course, some weren't home... but in this county, that was above and beyond!

This week-end it's more of the same, but now they are saying help locals too! Of course we've been giving out information for our local candidates. Twenty-two running this time out. Our main problem with them is that rarely do the local Repukes have any competition and we are having a very hard time educating people about the "newbies" and we have some SUPER Democrats running this time!!

TWENTY-TWO... I think that's more than we've had running in the past FOUR or FIVE elections combined!

And I was determined to sit this election out! Joe Biden and Sarah Paltry put the KABASH on my determination!

46. Was Making Phone Calls Last Night... I Live In The FAMOUS County OF
SARASOTA!! Katherine "Cruella" Harris was my Congressional Representative up until the time she decided she was good enough to run against Nelson for Senator! While I'm no big fan of Nelson a DINO IMO, had to vote for him against her.

This is THE county where Christine Jennings lost by 369 votes in 2006 and kinda/sorta lost 18,500 of them! Some say they were floating in the bay and long gone. I worked on the re-count effort here which was a FARCE! The hoops we had to jump through to even get a "peek" at any votes was laughable, but still she fought on for a very very long time. She's now running again and that's who I was calling for last night!

I will admit that back in 2006 I was a Jan Schneider supporter, but the local Democratic heads felt Jennings was the better bet, so they abandoned her. This time around Schneider is running as NPA and is basically pulling a "Joe Lieberman" so Jennings is fighting an uphill battle!!

Stinks, but that's the facts!

45. Yeah, McCain can't pull out of Florida at all, no matter what.
However, I don't see it doing much good, after the revelation by a McCain insider that the only way McCain can pay for his health care plan is to trim Medicare and Medicaid.

When Obama wins VA and FL, I expect all the election pundits to call it for Barack right then and there.
