McCain Is Losing.
Everything the man has done is turning to shit.

Caribou Barbie is an empty-headed reactionary woman who was supposed to bring disaffected Hilary voters back into the fold...

She failed.

McCain's policies derive from Bush's, most of the time.

Failed policies, all of them.

He pledged to run an honorable campaign.

He's not doing it...

He is losing...

So, now what?

Just what we're seeing:

Inciting crowds to flame out over Obama's middle name...

Talking about Obama's associations with Ayers, for crying out loud...

Anything, everything, except the issues!

Because it's obvious that when you can't run on those, you run dirty.

Shame on him.

And on anyone who votes for him!

Anyone who tries to further McCain's message of hate should be ashamed...

We are better than this!

/rant over...

Peace out...

5. My dear California Peggy
You're right - this man has lost what little dignity he had back in 2000 in his quest to become president. To think, I used to feel sorry for the guy because of what Bush & Rove did to him 8 1/2 years ago.

I can only hope that he will eventually see the writing on the wall and go quietly into obscurity and get back some semblance of dignity, rather than go out like the horror show he has become.

6. My dear NewJeffCT...
I hope for the same...

But I don't expect it, not one little bit.

I think he's nearly lost his mind on this quest...

He really has no dignity left to lose...

It's a shame.

7. I'm disappointed in your rant
Without your normal god damn CaliforniaPeggy cursings and expletives

We are gonna win this thing big, even though they have destroyed this nation,
We can rebuild it better than what we even thought was realistic years ago.

The repuglican brand and Reagan are finally dead which opens up possibilities
we never thought we could get past in Congress.

9. I feel bad for the people who admired McCain--
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 07:56 PM by vixengrl
I think I feel worse for people who admire him still, though. He performed one great act of personal courage 40 years ago--

and wore out his courage in political hackery and personal ambition. His "heroes", Rough Rider Teddy Roosevelt, and the Great Communicator, Ronald Reagan, would each disown him by now. Roosevelt, the conservationist and progressive, the man who broke up monopolies and talked about speaking softly but carrying a big stick, would've have chided McCain on his "Drill here, drill now!" gambit as the environmentally destructive and supine to corporate interests (yes! I said "supine!") grovelling it is. And he would also have questioned this big-talking but little-thinking man on his approach to foreign policy.

Ronald Reagan, though I recall his presidency with mixed feelings (I was in elementary school during his presidency, for the most part) at least had an articulate view of conservatism. His foreign policy included room for speaking with Gorbachev. He faced his opponents with grace and good humor, at least. He was not petty, angry, nor did he need the full-on Atwater/Rove-style smear--he was a propagandist, but he had style. And he delegated and even when he probably was beginning to personally fail intellectually, he appeared like he was in charge--but McCain seems like he's a mess. A mediocrity run by his lobbyist pals. And Reaganesque style?

McCain has no frigging style. He's no TR. He isn't any such thing as Reagan. He's 1960 Nixon. Or even a little later, on the verge of warning us we "won't have him to kick around anymore."

Anger and bitterness and "It's not fair" and cries of "Socialism!", "Reds!" and "Terrorists!" are all he has. It's mere flailing, and it's cowards, ideologues, and fellow flailers who'll still like him. Everyone else should feel a little sick. They might still cast a vote for him. But I predict they'll feel a little sick, for a conservatism dead on arrival, an ideal mouthed by a cold, dead old hand. The die-hards didn't want him in the first place, and will take him the way the starving take a meal from a dumpster.

24. McCain is a disgrace for what he is doing. But it is a test now for America.
She can reject the ugliness we see in the McCain and Palin rallies, his polls can drop through the floor and Obama can be elected president.

If he markedly improves his position from hate-mongering, America will have failed the test, in my view.

Even if McCain stays even after this week, he will be emboldened to continue this garbage in hopes it will start to "sink in" and "take".

I really hope the American Public shows him the door this week, in a big way.

28. IMHO he was chosen to lose.
The republicans pulled his campaign out of the dumper and talked the front runner into throwing in the towel. I said then they WANTED to lose. I didn't know why - thought it was shoving Iraq onto the Democrats -- little did I know they were trying to time the economic meltdown so it would happen after Jan 20, 2009.
