They are like cornered wild animals now. They are capable of saying and doing anything. However, in the end they will be destroyed.

1. The darkest days are upon us. I'm sure Obama's campaign is prepared
for this, though. They know what they are in for.

3. Yes. They are totally prepared. More than we can imagine.
I believe they have this thing covered. Have faith folks. We are going to win this thing!

2. Oh no not me.
They should be approaching meltdown stage any time now. Unfortunately with them that leads to violence.

6. And you have to ask . . . how much damage are they doing . . .
To Republicanism generally by turning into slavering dogs? There is a large and mostly moderate center to American politics (many countries look at mainstream Dems and mainstream 'Licans and can't tell any difference), and by veering off into the far right-wing weeds, McCain/Palin seem to be invalidating their entire party.

Myself, I'd be content if they sunk the wingnut faction and left the center-right intact, because in our system you really do need an opposition that's not full of crazy people.

11. I would prefer we had no opposition
for at least a generation so that we can fix all this crap!

22. Until we start minting democratic pols who are also saints . . .
I'd think that a little opposition would be essential.

Just not whack-jobs.

It's not like you can trust the 4th Estate to keep pols honest anymore.

7. I have been optimistic this whole time
But last night I started worrying and I couldnt sleep. I just feel like the Republicans are capable of anything if they are capable of taking us into an illegal war, well shit they already stole one election. I need to get away from all this for awhile I think. Or just a stiff drink.

13. It is ugly but I am not overly surprised. I listen to wacko right-wing radio from time to time...

and they have been nasty ugly from the beginning. However, I am a bit surprised that McCain has bought into it considering he said a few months back that he would run an honorable campaign. So much for that promise.

12. Its also lamer than I imagined
I'm confounded by the vehement onslaught of rehash. They usually can come up with something different.

This Ayers nonsense is the most tenuous and remote controversy EVER. I have no patience for it whatsoever.

16. Indeed. Even Republicans are losing patience with these ignorant attacks.
McCain is losing all the credibility he ever had.

14. Sometimes you forget what lurks under the facade. It's ugly to see, but there's joy in beating them.
Did I really expect the Republicans to go down easy?

You know, I did. 2004 hit me so hard, I guess I blocked it out. I repressed the kind of ugliness they are capable of.

I still hate being reminded of it. I hate thinking that I share a country with these hateful bozos. But winning this year will be sweet. As will replaying all their comments about how presidents should always be supported in everything they do.

And this country is only going to get more and more progressive. Bush was the anti-Reagan. Republicans are now the symbols of everything bigoted, everything cruel, everything dumb, everything bloated, everything stupid and bloody.

Obama's win will be the first of many, as we finally start fixing this broken country. Some will see that their hate was misplaced, and join us. The ones that don't will see their power dwindle into nothing.

Here's to Election Day 2008!

They may never recover from this.

20. Me too. He did promise a while back to run a clean campaign.
I do think McCain is not running the show at all now. He is being controlled and manipulated by RNC operatives like Rove and others.

25. I agree, the repubs will go down fighting BUT to insight HELTER SKELTER IS TOO MUCH!
McCain and Palin are aware of what they're doing to this low information, gun toting, creationism believing crowd. They have crossed the line and I'm amazed they have no guilt over any possible aftermath.
